The fact that the entire market is held up because of this tells you that Gibson is the most sought after player. I'm sure that most teams have offers in. It's just up to Raftis to choose the best one.
Obviously he’s very sought after I’m not disagreeing with you. Arguably best defensive d in the league.

I’d love to see how Kingston/Brantford would be on the back end with the big addition of him. A team like Barrie/London obviously doesn’t make any sense with how strong their d already is and Brampton doesn’t have any first round pick to offer just like Kingston and less picks too so can’t see them.

I’m saying if Oshawa can’t get it done and with the rumours of potentially Sudbury buying- maybe they pivot to Sudbury for Luca Blonda, chitaroni and picks for Gibson and Mignosa.

Or if Brantford offered up O’Donnell for Gibson and pushed their chips in for this year.

Or if griffin/smith changed their mind about the soo

Or if the Soo said screw it we just want the most picks possible like a Jorian Donovan/pavel mintukov return and went to Kingston who has the most 2nd rounders in the league

As I said, lots of stuff in play.

The one thing I'm pretty confident in is that the Hounds will want a young center back in this deal. They weren't deep there to begin with and have been absolutely ravaged with injuries up the middle. Lots of guys who aren't centres have been playing there, even in the top 6.

We've seen typical Hounds hockey with dominant puck possession and wins, even against top teams, when Martin, Allard, and Brown are playing. When they aren't, it's been a defensive disaster. I think they would be the 4 seed now had things gone a little differently.

With Allard somewhat likely to be dealt, they really have to get a young guy back. That's why getting both Smith and Griffin was so enticing.

I know that’s their first option but if those guys aren’t in play you don’t think they’d like a guy such as Luca blonda who doesn’t have phenomenal numbers this year yet, sure but he was the first defenceman selected in this years draft and is also one of the youngest with a November 28th birthday (making him eligible for the 2027 draft rather than 2026) he is also a right handed d and 5’11 172 already. I would imagine he grows maybe an extra inch or two and puts up 15 lbs by the start of next season.

IMO if smith and griffin aren’t in play that’s who I’m targeting regardless of if you guys are northern rivals or anything. Blonda will be a star in this league when you guys are going for it. And he will only be 18 too with the potential of coming back the year after you guys go all in and you can use him as a trading chip. Even if you don’t go for chitaroni and just go for Blonda and a crap ton of picks that would be a real good deal.

Get a centre this years draft when you probably select top 4.

I know Luca and he's a great kid, but we just don't have space for him on our roster to be honest. We're absolutely swimming in high end young defensemen, especially on the right side. I'd bet my house that they deal for a young centre.

Next year's draft is too late to address needs for 2027. Those guys will be trade chips. They need to get that second line C right now and start developing him.

The Soo
It would be cool for Sooites to see Blonda and Chitaroni back in red and white, but for whatever reason the pipeline of locals to the hounds largely ended with Raftis. I'm not sure if this was a conscious thing, or just coincidence but makes you wonder when we choose guys like Jacob Holmes over Jack Matier. Hindsight is 20/20 but that miscalculation was a tough one to swallow considering how easy scouting Matier would have been, unless you aren't interested in scouting local kids.

Bryson Chitaroni is a 2007 Centre and Luca Blonda is a late 2008 RHD. Could get your centre along with Blonda (with reduced picks)

If Oshawa falls through I think they turn to Sudbury. If Sudbury doesn’t want him maybe he comes to Kingston for picks.

Aiden O’Donnell on Brantford is a LW and with him being an 08 that sounds like you’d have 0 interest in him despite Brady smith on Oshawa being a RW.

For all your reasons to obtain Luca Blonda are all the same reasons he will not be traded.

I assume you mean Hudson Chitaroni? I think most of us soo guys are familiar with the Chitaroni's and Luca Blonda given that they're locals!

Terry Chitaroni was with the wolves in the 90's. He coached the u15AAA hounds team i mentioned previously that featured his son Brock, Luca Blonda, Nik Rossetto(Brantford), James Elliott(Hounds) etc...

Personally I think Hudson C. and Luca Blonda will be staying Sudbury, and won't be surprised if Brock Chitaroni (2009) is drafted by the wolves this spring if he's around for them to select. Just my 2 cents.

Is Mignosa on the move as well?

He's rumoured to be on the market, with some suggesting him and Gibson could be headed to Oshawa together but things are uncomfortably quiet right now.

Gibson trade has hit a snag.
the all no move trade clauses for 2 young returning players have not been waived by the
players as of yet.

My understanding is that O'Donnell is a natural centre and projects there long term. Could be wrong, but it's not uncommon to put rookies on the wing to start their career.

Yes oops. Could see him going to Soo in a deal and then if the Soo bottom out and get a bottom 4 pick- maybe they get both brothers. From all the good stuff I’ve heard about Brock Chitaroni over the past year and a bit when they had that stellar barrie team I would be shocked if he fell out of the top 10 and it sounds to me that some have him in the top 5 or even top 3. (Just going off what other people have said about him- I haven’t watched him once)

Thing is- they can’t buy without moving atleast one of those guys. They’ll be in the same spot as Kingston and Kingstons been having some troubles getting trades done because they refuse to include Hopkins. Velliaris and weir don’t have much value either and we do not have a 08 first to trade.

For all your reasons to obtain Luca Blonda are all the same reasons he will not be traded.
Then who are the wolves going to get??

They certainly won’t be able to get Gibson without including atleast one of Blonda/chitaroni.

If they refuse to move young players they’re in no better a situation than the fronts right now and an inevitable collapse in round 1/2

another poster on oshawa board saying they are looking for a top 6 forward as well...which may mean no picks (or not many) involved as they only have 2-2nd and 2-3rds left...hopefully we get at least a 2nd as well coming back. be a shame that we give up a world class player for 1 player and a pick.

would have loved to see griffin here as well but at least we are selling for once.
