Hard not to view this as a failure by Raftis. Unless he has another destination already arranged for the trade deadline.

It's a real stretch to consider this any kind of failure. This sets a nice market for Nordh, as he is a better player than Alriksson. Plenty of teams have room for an import.

Erie: Misiak is having a rough year and could also open up an OA spot.

Kitchener: Has an open spot

Niagara: Has an open spot

Oshawa: I'm sure they would deal David Svozil if it meant getting Nordh.

Windsor: Would certainly give up Josef Eichler if it meant getting Nordh.

There's other teams too that may be surprise buyers.

If we get less than 2,3,3 for Nordh or don't deal him at all then there was a failure, but the notion that this trade represents any failure on our part is utterly ridiculous.

It’s hard for me to think Allard and Nordh get split up….

I think you and I are on the same wave-length.

I'm just speculating, but feel like we could see them moved together with strong lobbying from Utah. That will also depend on Allard's health, the guy can't seem to catch a break!

If true:

Erie for Misiak makes a ton of sense. He's taking up 2 slots as an OA import.

Oshawa for Svozil and D'Amato also makes sense. You can maybe get Brady Smith for them if Gibson goes elsewhere.

Misiak has 20 points in 21 games including 8 in his last 6. Wouldn’t call that a rough year.

I was thinking more the other side of the game. A friend who works in media there tells me that he's been demoted to the bottom 6 and actually benched mid-game a couple of times due to defensive miscues and lack of effort.

If that's the case, I think you need more of an impact from a guy taking up 2 slots. I know the part about the demotion and benching is true, but maybe an Erie fan can chime in on his defensive play.

Frasca as 3rd line centre did not work for Butler. Misiak is a strong reliable centre.

Interesting scenario if Erie were to trade for both. They don't have many picks, but do have Tyler Challenger. It's probably the only scenario in which they could add multiple high end players.

It would give them an outrageously good top 6 forwards, a defense anchored by Schaefer, and a good goaltender. They might be prioritizing more defense, however.

I definitely think they have to try something else with Frasca. Really thought he could take off in top 6 this year. Boy was I wrong

Frasca is playing RW; that is different :) Butler just could not hold back Spence any longer playing him L3 with Frasca. Frasca just isn’t a top 3 LW or C in Erie now that Hughes is on the team.

Something else as in maybe including him for a big fish like musty and frasca gets another change in scenery lol. Guy isn’t exactly taking off in Erie and after sending that big package for him gotta think Erie isn’t too pleased

From Sootoday:

With the Greyhounds having placed bids to host the Memorial Cup the last two times it was the OHL’s turn to host the event, Crawford said that “it seems we’ll have a lot of interest” when the event returns to Ontario in 2027.

Asked what the Greyhounds would need to do to have the best opportunity to host it, should the team be interested, Crawford spoke of the need for teams to figure out “how to make sure that that event is a huge driver for the community, not just a set of hockey games over the course of a week.”

“I don’t think anyone doubts the enthusiasm for an event like that coming here and fans coming out to support it,” Crawford added.

Arena is to small
Our arena is roughly the same size as Wendler arena in Saginaw that got picked last year and the Sandman Centre in Kamloops that got picked the year before that.

There's got to be some sense of owing it to the fans here after picking teams that weren't worthy of hosting (didn't even make it out of their conference) in 2 of the last 3 selections. This team is set to be stacked in 2027.

Too small? That's rubbish.

But so is calling other teams unworthy. Don't like that we didn't get it last year? Blame the GM. Our roster/cupboards were cited as a reason we missed out, not our arena.

And if making the OHL championship is what deems a team worthy of hosting then by your own logic we weren't worthy either. We didn't make it out of the 2nd round 😆

Arena is not too small. If you’ve been paying attention hounds have even made some massive changes so that it meets the OHLs “community driven” requirement including the Hound Power foundation , reformation of the 50/50 and the jersey draw….. pay attention!

We would have been sold out in 2 weeks.

Yeah the arena size comment is a bad take. Soo is larger than Rimouski's building. Although in the Q if you're not Halifax, Quebec, or Moncton, the arenas are on the smaller side. The Soo would be an A+ host. I think a bigger issue is would they have the host come from the west division 3 times in a row or would they want to move it around?

It's hard to find many examples of high end or OA goaltenders being moved at the deadline, let alone both at once.

Guzda was moved for 3,3 but was far from elite and it was before the deadline.

Vendenberg went for 3,3 last year, but wasn't good and it wasn't at the deadline. He also wasn't an OA.

Kooy went for 2,3,5 back in 2020, but he wasn't an OA and there were some other issues with him.

Justin Nichols was OA and pretty decent back in 2016 and got 3,5.

I'm going to say Charlie nets us 2,3,4 if he's dealt, but I won't criticize Raftis' too much either way because there is no precedent and presumably a small market. I still say Kingston due to Vaccari's injury and Lalonde's awful play of late.

It might be a signal that Kitchener isn't selling as well, which is really good for us.
