If one-stop-shopping means moving Martin, then I am probably doing something slightly smaller with two different teams
1) top line forward <-> Soo '06 D plus picks
2) OA defenseman <-> Soo OA forward plus picks

In fact, I would be happy with those additions for a run this year.

we won't be winning the arms races, i get that.

although if I'm beck i want nothing to do with sudbury. no offense to the fans who've endured some lean years, but if i'm chasing another cup i'd want to be on a more obvious contender. i assumed he'd end up in saggy. are they short on draft capital to make that move?
Draft capital no, but players that move the needle to send out yes. 4 2nds left to deal I believe and 16 year old first rounder Young.

If that is the route they go, I would still like them to add a veteran 3rd line C.

I've liked the Clattenburg - Brown - Cloutier line. Does anyone else think that a 3rd line like that can be effective in the playoffs?

I have liked them as well, but on the road in the playoffs against a team that will be deep down the middle like Saginaw, I don't like it.

i think saggy has their attention turned to donovan and someone like thomas.

oa defence woud be fairly easy to get i think, schmidt trade established that, someone like mayer maybe. front line forward? not even sure who that would be?

Christopher Brown + Flint 2nd 2024 + SSM 4th 2024 + London 4th 2024 for Gavin Hayes

One of Evans/BMB2/Solomon can go for a dman.

You managed to come out of your trades while keeping a 2nd and all our 3rds in the cupboard, which I think is unrealistic @Fischhaber hahahaha but I like it!
I think Hayes would match Beck, maybe '07-1st and 2, 3, 4. you can probably insert Virgilio and add a 4th

You start at the top and go down the list
Beck
Hayes
Cowan
Wakely
Van Steensel
Ludwinski
Fimis
.....
beck and hayes are the only ones that are being traded, you could maybe add pitre to that too. hayes/pitre may not even be. flint was talking about buying a month ago.

cowan, wakely, van steensel and fimis are all back next year with teams that see themselves as being competitive, if not trying to win. strong overages. ludwinski should be moved, but kingston thinks they are winning this year so they will run with him i believe.

Ridiculous trades, just for fun:

1. Gavin Hayes and Blake Smith for Matthew Virglio, Christopher Brown, Flint's own 2024 2nd, and a pair of 4th round picks.

Maybe the best young player available for the best veteran piece available (him or Beck). The value is something like 6 2nd round picks, at the very least. Smith can be an OA next year with Carlisle and Fantino.

2. Dom Divincentiis for Charlie Schenkel (stolen from a NB fan).

An interesting gamble. NB gets the extra year of Schenkel and we gamble that Dom D can regain his form from last year. Miller should start next year either way. I'm leaning towards keeping Charlie lately, but this is fun.

3. Oliver Peer for Jordan D'Intino, our 2024 2nd, and Tate Vader

Peer is the most Greyhounds player I can think of that isn't already on the team. I like D'Intino, but the fit is amazing.

Lineup:

G. Hayes-BMB-Peer
Beck-Allard-Mignosa
Clattenburg-Sirizzotti-Cloutier
Fantino-Martin-Kostov
T. Hayes

Kudryavtsev-Karki
Carlisle-Gibson
Evans-Smith
BMB Jr.

Divencentiis
Miller

Have some fun with your own trades. These are just the midnight remblings of a hockey fanatic.
C. Brown for O. Beck
2-2024
2-2027
3-2025
4-2024
4-2024

2nd - 2024 for Z. Lavoie
3rd - 2026
4th - 2025

J. D'Intino for C. Punnett
S. Evans
4th - 2025
4th - 2026

Not sure if these prices would be fair or not. I tried to be as impartial as i could lol. the last one may be a pipe dream haha.

If Beck is the only legit top line forward being traded that's not an OA, and Peterborough says no deal without Martin, then I still probably pivot to an OA forward upgrade (Peer?) and keep our D as is.
you probably can get the leblanc twins but they will want alot. windsor may move abraham.

other then that? .....

The LeBlanc twins are both lacking on the defensive end, which is part of the reason why they have been traded for cheaper than expected on 2 occasions. I'm not sure if they are the type of players that would be an asset in the playoffs.

Could you imagine Rutger McGroarty on this Soo team this year? Imagine Raftis somehow managed to make it happened? Immediately gets the key to the city lol

The Soo
getting Rutger for nothing at this point would be a Mark Hunter/London Knights move. Mr Raftis, if you're out there, the offer to mow your lawn all summer if Rutger reports is on the table!

Doesn't Raftis have five acres of lawn? Take a lot of mustard on your hotdog to get that mowed!
