Game 68: Saginaw at Soo.
Assuming the Soo has locked down the 3rd seed in the West, how likely is it that some key players will be rested for game 68? No sense of urgency after all.
You guys know the tendencies of the coaching staff much better than I.

They’ll rest guys that ask for it, for sure.

I would like to see Charlie sit the rest of the season to be completely honest. He doesn’t need to play anymore, let him rest up and heal up. Maybe he can play the Saginaw game.

The Hounds didn’t put in a winning effort.. if they had put in a winning effort we would have clean swept the Knights. Didn’t seem to have a sense of urgency, almost like they’re checked out on the season and focused on playoffs ( we can hope ).

We will have to settle for 3-1 on the season.

So if the Knights bring their best, and so does the Soo...the Soo win? At least give credit where credit is deserved.

I don't know if we've seen that yet this season. I'm looking forward to seeing it in a playoff matchup.
In my opinion, the two best teams in the O faced off last night, and if we end up meeting in the playoffs it should be a great series. What I always say is...let two teams go head to head, and may the best team win. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Hounds take the O, and if so, I will be one of the first to congratulate you. Very exciting matchup whenever these teams meet...lots of respect for you guys.

Sawyer Boulton is doing his job so well he not only live rent free in the heads of opposing teams and their fans but also OHL officials.

The Knights will be wise to scratch him until the playoffs so they not the OHL choose when to deploy him.

re: Nellie's post

in a loss I think the tendency is to criticize your own team. I don't think it's a slight against the other team, just an acknowledgement that the team you root for didn't do enough to win.

with all the PP time we wasted, and our weak PK, we just plain didn't do enough to overcome the strong play of those damn knights.

We beat London handily if we play like that. The inconsistency of this team is a little frustrating. Hopefully the playoffs bring more consistent efforts.

Just when you think the standings are all locked up, Saginaw goes and loses to Erie just to keep things interesting
Still mathematically possible to win the division and 2nd seed. According to that solar calculator. Saginaw must lose their next 2 games in regulation (at Sarnia and vs Windsor). And.......

Our Hounds must get wins in their next 2 games (vs Sarnia and Flint).

This would set up a chance for the Hounds to beat Saginaw in regulation to win the division on the last day of the regular season. Almost impossible. But possible.

Anything is possible in junior hockey!

Looking ahead to playoff matches, still don't know how 5,6,7,8 will shake out. Good news is that whichever team finishes on the biggest heater and grabs 5th will line up against Kitchener (4th). We are likely in 3rd at this point. If Saginaw loses last 3 and we win last 3 then we squeak ahead, but any other result has us finish in 3rd.

5th to 8th:
Guelph 64 GP, 67 Pts - Kitchener, Owen Sound, Owen Sound, London
Erie 65 GP, 67 Pts - Flint, Windsor, Kitchener
Owen Sound 66 GP, 66 Pts - Guelph, Guelph
Flint 65 GP, 65 Pts - Erie, Soo, Sarnia

Will be an interesting finish. Guelph with the most points and games remaining, but has to play 4 games including not only London, Kitchener, but two against Owen Sound who only have those 2 games left to prepare for.

At this stage I can't even pick a likely final order as I truly see a scenario where each team finishes in 5th and another where each finishes in 8th. Should be wild down to the wire!

Here is the Soo's record versus each this season, I count anything that went past regulation as a tie as 3vs3 and Shootouts don't mean much in playoff matchups:
Guelph: 3-0-1 (SO loss)
Erie: 1-0-1 (OT loss)
Owen Sound: 1-1-0
Flint: 2-1-2 (OT win, SO loss), one more game to play

In the end, it probably doesn't matter who we play. We haven't lost in regulation vs. Guelph or Erie, and only lost once in regulation vs. Owen Sound and Flint.

I think Erie is the easiest matchup. I think Flint is the best team, but we would still beat them. Owen Sound is a bit scary because of Carter George.
