Double checked on my printing calculator. And yes, seems like any combination of 6 points gained by Saginaw and points lost by our Hounds, will clinch the West for Saginaw. Seeds 5-8 are so tight. Their is no way any of my 2 calculators can figure out a potential 1st round opponent.
As for the game tonight. I'd give a 4th star to Spitfire goalie Costa zone with over 40 saves.

Martin with his 10th - our 13th with that many goals. Most in the league I believe.
That's been a big plus in the regular season where we can roll 4 lines against teams with weaker bottom halves of the roster like Kitchener and Saginaw. Poor guys like Carson Campbell, Cameron Reid, Ethan Hay, and Will Bishop have been absolutely torched at times.

Those guys aren't going to get minutes in the playoffs and we'll see a steady dose OHL calibre players that were acquired at the deadline. We'll need to step up our game and make changes to have success

Sorry Soo fans. Looked at the video and deleted what a had in my post. Looked like a head shot to me when he came across and the 2nd player hit him in the head. Guess it's up to the league to decipher the video.

speaking of dirty hits.. I missed tonight’s game.. how was the hit on Vader?
Your colour guy Mark Matier said he thought it wasn't an intentional dirty hit and felt it wasn't a dirty hit, just an unfortunate way it turned out. I'm sure he will get some form of discipline for it. Be safe.

Mark Matier is the best commentator in the O...fair, impartial, insightful, honest, calls it both ways!

Sad considering what Saginaw paid to get Hay..

I actually disagree entirely. I think there might even be some members of the team staff who disagree. His comments like these specially do not help the teams case when sending in video and the comments in the post are proof. I actually mute Roger’s broadcasts.

The hit was not clean or good in my opinon, he was tripped up by the Spitfire player then his head was crushed by a player that targeted him across the ice/blindside/head checking.

Heres the video :

Sorry these conversations never end well but your wrong. Even what you posted about the hit puts it in another light. Soo player was tripped , so he was falling down by what you posted. He was not at the same height as when Woodall lined him up. If he had not started to fall the hit would have been clean and chest high. Not a predatory hit. Just a hit that went wrong and became a head check. You also called it a blindside hit, hard to do hitting him from the front. Mark Matier called the play exactly as it happened. Unfortunately your not seeing it that way. The league will decide the level of severity and issue the discipline as they feel is warranted.

I will stick with my thoughts on Mark Matier being the best colour announcer in the OHL.

I don’t care how they end lol it’s your opinion and my opinion. It can end there instead of making it some big deal mate.

My sample size is small but I’ve not liked a lot of comments he’s made, I can see how some out of town fans would think otherwise.

I like Matier but I could see how his opinions would upset the homers.

Regarding the hit, I don't think it was predatory and the falling player certainly made it worse, but I still think a hit where the principal point of contact is the head is a suspendable whether it was intentional or not. I wager it's 2-5 games depending on where the "wheel of supplemental discipline" falls this time around.

One thing is certain, Vader will have a reminder to keep his head up cutting across the top of the zone.

To me the only time his head is down is when he gets tripped up, and looks down a second as he fumbles the puck( in the slow motion you can see his head go down and look ). I would imagine the officials saw that too during their review of the hit, hence why it wasn’t turned back or changed ( we saw Bryce’s 5 turned to a 2 just a game ago )

Fantino has been playing his best hockey recently. He has been a lowkey good depth player on this team. Whether or not he finds himself in the starting 12 come playoffs, Dean knows he has an option there that he can rely on. This team is ridiculously deep on F.

It appears to me that he did not look before he chose to cut across the grain

hit the nail on the head Pops.

Fantino has been playing fantastic hockey and looks to me like he's gained some footspeed, which IMO was the main issue holding him back at the start of the season. it's a great problem to have for the hounds, but crappy that someone will have to be sitting.

i can't see them breaking up BMB, Hayes and Beck. I'd keep the speed together with Allard, Cloutier an DeZeotte. Slower, but power forwards D'Intino, Frasca with Mignosa and I'd move Brown to the wing with Martin and T. Hayes.

legitimate 4 really good lines. if Hayes isn't ready to go for playoffs, i'd move Fantino up with Dino and Frasca and throw Mignosa with martin and Brown to add more skill.

really excited for the playoffs!

one thing i'd like to switch up every now and then is throw Karki back on the side during the powerplay. every now and then anyway. he is deadly at the side wall

Enjoy it while it lasts. With Reid on the trajectory he is I suspect he'll be the top defenseman in the league at 18 in two years. And my opinion doesn't change if guys like Parekh and Dickinson are still around at 19.
