Kyle Raftis waking up this morning in the mess he made this past offseason:

I mean.. They hung with the defending champs for half of the game. Yea it’s not going to be pretty. But Sag will probably win the division. Don’t get me wrong, I’m assuming we’ll come last in the division. But outside of only having 2 real solid lines, our biggest problem is our future in net imo.

Yikes. Not the start Miller wanted for sure. It's early in a rebuild year, certainly not time to panic or anything..but they need a lot more from him or Charlie isn't going anywhere lol.

The positive for me was Carson Andrew and Holub chipping in some points. That's a great way to start your OHL career.

I’ll say it now. I hope I’m wrong. Unless we see some major improvement in Landon Miller. I don’t think he’s a great fit for our future #1. You can say the defence let him down in the first period. But that excuse has been used so many times. I can’t remember the last time he stopped the first 10 shots he’s faced.
Same, I know its only game 1 and not pushing the panic button yet, but miller's numbers were good last year because he played the lower tier of teams. I thought charlie deserved this start, mostly for how good he was in the playoffs last year, and maybe some redemption for game 7, but it is what it is.

Martin was on another level. All the rookies played really well. Holub is a truck out there. If allard and nordh get sent back, this could be a fun team to watch till the deadline.

Was Coughlan diving all night? Or can he just not skate? I think it may have been a bit of both

With no Nordh or Allard, I withdraw my prediction that we make the playoffs. Who's the projected first overall this year? Lol

Caught Saginaw vs Sarnia at the Dow tonight. That barn is quite the maze to navigate. Quite a few empty seats but it was noisy and had a great atmosphere.

Although this small town Canadian was caught off guard having to pass through a metal detector to see an OHL game. God bless America! 🔫 🔫 🔫

THIS IS ALL ON KYLE RAFTIS FOR SETTING THE TEAM UP TO FAIL!

Imagine saying this about your leadership group in the 2nd game of the year? Yikes.

Guy talks the talk but he will literally never walk the walk.

Could Dean have toned it down a bit for the media? Absolutely. But he isn’t wrong.

How do you want this team to compete? Honestly.. we have junior B kids filling gaps because of our GMs incompetence and then realizing these kids can’t play so they sit on the bench. He moved the “8th” dman from D to F and then sat him.

This after just two games? Just wait… players aren’t gonna put up with it. We’ve already had a TON walk away before the season even started.

Coach should take his own advice and LEAD. Official missed so many calls on the Soo it’s insane then we end up with 3 or 4 in a row, against a rookie official. Gibson spoke up multiple times and then got penalized for it. He was trying to be a leader.

I'm glad he said it after 2 games. Let it go on for 20 and then it's too far gone? Man, people need to put on their big boy pants and suck it up. Blaming raftis every post is a bit old. Not doing any favour's to these kids by babying them. You actually think the players are going to walk? Give your head a shake. This is junior hockey now. Go ahead. Walk away, that's how you get a great name for yourself in the future. Yeah pick me, I'm a cancer.

This world is so soft now. People getting butthurt over a coach calling out his team. Wah wah wah.

Well.. I saw the same thing as Dean did on the ice. Carlisle, Gibson and Martin all with undisciplined penalties. Their actions directly impacted the game, not the kids that left after training camp and aren’t here.

2 winnable games this weekend for sure. Even with the players that ARE here and in the lineup. It’s just difficult for me to point fingers at players who walked away and/or didn’t report, because it’s irrelevant to what happened on the ice. This is the group we’ve got, it’s up to us to support them.

I mean, Raftis IS to blame for the roster. And if I'm Dean I'm probably feeling salty about it.

One quarter of our roster is waiver pickups and marginal OHLers, our draft was god awful, and we are going to need to trade what little skill we have just to get back to "even" in draft picks. Imagine how bad we could be without a few vets lol

But I'm not mad. I've gone through various stages of anger and grief but I think I've finally hit acceptance.

Things will eventually get better, but it might take regime change.

Agreed. Actually dale, we may have been the only two that questioned raftis' moves the past few years. Our narrative hasn't changed.

I'm not mad either, but blaming raftis for 3 leaders getting stupid penalties is a bit much. Yes, the roster is nowhere near where it should be, but the coach should be able to call out any of his players if he sees fit. And to even think that anyone would walk away from the team because of that is wild.

The penalties def. have nothing to do with the GM. And I see no real issue with calling them out. The penalties cost the the game. The curious part for me is that this kind of hot take has never really been his style, and that its happening after the 2nd game of the season.

Fair point. But maybe his leadership has never let him down like that in the past. I can't recall ever seeing 3 of the 4 leaders in thr box at the same time, one for a 10...

His team let him down he’s a year behind in development.

The GM needs to go, he will bring in a new philosophy followed by a new coaching staff. His comments are an indication of something being off internally. It’s out if character. If you can’t see the bigger picture through my comments, I don’t know what to say. two games in and he’s already freaking out, he must be unhappy with the product placed in front of him as well……..

I really hope the truth about Owen Allard and why he didn’t come to our camp comes out.

Well that's super cryptic for no reason whatsoever. So do you know why and you're just keeping it to yourself? Or you don't know and you just want to make it seem super dramatic?

i think a lot of us can speculate on the owen allard case and why he might not have been happy here.

after the world jr's/trade deadline his production dropped in half. that is a quantifiable fact. allard may feel that his diminished role after adding guys like Gavin Hayes at the deadline is responsible. i'm not saying that is accurate, but suggesting that he felt he deserved better after being a PPG player the first half of the season.

i don't have any insider knowledge to offer, but it's very easy to read between the lines on what could have happened, and why might have felt undervalued.
