2 in a row from the Hounds. Just when we thought we were in the running for Roobroeck. Schenkel makes a huge difference to this team.

Looking at the standings :
realistically only team the hounds hope to catch for 8th in the conference i believe is Flint.
Now that Kitchener has made a coaching change and the GM is behind the bench, kitchener
will string some wins together and pull away from the hounds. they have a strong core of
older players and were considered a strong team at the beginning of the year, haven't played
well for most of the year but believe to strong to not make the playoffs.
Flint on the other hand ???

Greyhounds have 45 points. To realistically have a decent chance of making the playoffs, they probably need to get to 65 points. Occasionally teams sneak into the 8th spot in the west with fewer, and some years it wouldn't be quite enough, but it should give you a decent shot if you hit 65 points.

The schedule could certainly be worse, with 10 of those 17 games against teams ranked in the bottom half of the league. Also favourable for travel with 11 of the 17 games remaining at home. Unfortunately no more games vs Flint if it ends up in a battle with them for 8th.

Good effort last night. I cannot stand that Dillingham.
Really liking the additions of Sirizotti and Fantino. Charlie is so much more calm in that net I find. I do believe he could be one of the best goalies in this league. Nice to see growth in Clattenburg, mentioned very earlier in the season he may not put up the point this year but he is a very valuable asset to this team and his growth will be noticeable over the years. Very mature response last night.

I have been a bit guilty over the last 2 years of harping on what Cloutier isn't. But I try to remind myself that a player has no control over where they are selected. The more I watch him, the more I see a Ryan Roth type of player. They are the same height, both shoot right and play the same kind of style. If Cloutier can continue to develop into that type of player and that type of production he will be a pretty useful player in the lineup and plays a versatile enough game that he could move up or down the lineup as needed. Obviously not a home run type selection for Raftis late first round, but still a player who contributes at both ends of the ice and nowhere near a complete bust.

very true its not Cloutiers fault but does raise more questions about the abilities of our scouts and GM.

Sure it's not a good look on the scouts or Raftis since Cloutier was selected late first round, but if he can become that then he's a useful every day OHLer and probably plays mid 6 on a contender next year. Not sure what your definition of a bust is, but I've seen much worse picks. IF he can become that.

Bryce McConnell-Barker has been great. In fact, I'm not sure there is anyone selected top 10 in his draft that I would rather have on this team. Nelson has been great but this team needs Bryce not Nelson. Hope he bounces back after that hit last game. That's at least one feather in Raftis' cap.

He's mad because we lost 12-1 to them and did not act this way. He's mad because it's a common occurrence with Sarnia teams to be classless.

The hit was nice and clean for sure but Dillingham was head hunting all game. He jumped Cloutier last game, two handed and tried to jump Clattenburg this game. He was head hunting all game.

Roth had decent hands but was easy to separate from the puck. He's the kind of guy you might expect in the 4th or later imo. He had some skill but it didn't translate well to the rougher games in the spring. Definitely not what I'm hoping for from a 1st round pick but that's just me. lol

i think i've expressed that i think BMB is the real deal. I was talking with HFP today and said I'm going to judge that selection by his 19yo season but right now I have no problem with it. i think he needs an elite line mate though.

good to see @Hfp92 back lol. him and i have had more heated words about greyhounds hockey than any of you. real angry stuff sometimes. but the forum is better if he's here.

Definitely not what I'm hoping for from a 1st round pick but that's just me.

I think we can all agree with that. I'm just saying I'm trying not to hate the player for where he is picked - not his fault.

Here's hoping we either pick up one or two for next season or one or two of our current guys really pick up their game in the off season...would make for a deadly first line

We absolutely need to hit on the high import pick this year. it's a must.

If Raftis throws all his chips in the middle, we really don't have the assets to make many moves. I see 2 moves (one blockbuster, and one cheaper OA). It won't be enough unless he gets another impact player for free (either import pick, an american report, or a FA signing).

As it stands, our top 6 next season is probably all but one of McB, Sirizzotti, D'Intino, Allard, Mignosa, Fantino, Cloutier. We really need to upgrade 2 of those spots in the top 6. A high end import would go a long way (hopefully 2nd line material), plus a blockbuster deadline acquisition (top line player), to round out the top 6.

Our bottom 6 then becomes 3 from the above group (let's say Mignosa, Fantino, Cloutier), plus Kostov, Clattenburg, Brown, Montroy, plus either our first or second round pick this summer. Other options for this group are Moses, Good, Vader.

Our D will all be back save for Thompson. Hopefully there will be no need to upgrade there.

In goal it's obviously Schenkel's net, but I wonder if we will use the last OA spot on Ivanov or go with a younger backup and try to upgrade somewhere else on the cheap by bringing in an impact OA.

Long shots would be convincing an american prospect to report.
