Chapman stunk at the plate after April last year. He was a big reason the offense was shit last year with all the untimely strikeouts and useless at bats. I'm glad to move on and give those at bats to younger players to see what they are capable of. It wouldn't shock me to see Davis Schneider or Orelvis Martinez put up better offensive seasons this year (nevermind following two seasons).
Chapman on one year deal would've been liveable but the player options are not attractive at all when you have some big financial decisions to make next winter. We really need to be all over Soto if he hits the market and we need to think about extensions to core guys.
