OT - NO POLITICS Spring has sprung

First of all, I love that.

Secondly - and this might be controversial, not sure - but I feel like in today's day and age doctors might potentially cause unnecessary stress in expecting/new parents (I'm focused only on this context right now) - yours is a shining example that they really don't know for sure.

When my wife was still pregnant with my son, we were told he a) had an echogenic bowel that was a concern for a variety of things, b) he had a "sandal gap" which is a concern for a bunch of things, c) he had fluid around his heart which was a concern for a bunch of things, d) he had a valve issue, e) he had a spot on his brain that was a concern

None of it ended up manifesting. Like, at all.

I get being cautious, and I get preparing parents for potentially tough news - but I dunno, I think there is a conversation to be had around balance. We REALLY struggled throughout the pregnancy because of this.
Oh i totally buy that

I get why they said certain things to us, and they did often add disclaimers such as “it’s the brain, you never really know.” But then on the next breath they’d predict some other hardship. They were right about some things, but overall this kid has made them eat their words.

And in your case, i can’t even imagine all the stress that put on your wife and as a result of that also on the unborn child. That has to be hell on the body.

My neighbor told me she didn't think her new cat liked the food she was giving her. I've been feeding her the last couple days while the neighbor was out of town. Tonight when I walked in, the cat had turned the food bowl upside down, with the food still in it, and put the mat that had been under the bowl on top of it all. Cracked me up. I told the neighbor, yep.... think she may be trying to tell you something :biglaugh:

12 years ago, a neurologist told me that my daughter might never crawl, that she may have difficulty speaking, or walking, or carrying things. She was high risk for seizures. Her body may grow quicker on one side than the other. They didn’t know what would happen, all they knew is that there was a very small spot in the left side of her brain that just never developed and it was going to most likely make her road ahead very difficult. .

Tomorrow night she is being inducted into the national junior honor society.

Suck it, Doc
Love this.

When mine dislike the food, they try to bury it.

We got progressively more checked out with how much the USA makes birth a medical condition.

Baby 1 was the normal hospital stay, petocine, almost C section, getting woken up in the middle of the night for rounds, checking the babys blood sugar all the friggin time.

Baby 2 was at a birthing center, were there for all of 8 hours, went home.

If we had a 3rd it would have been at home. We were just so checked out on all of the negativity.

Congrats for your oldest! Girls seem to have their shit way more together than boys these days. We held our son back due to an August birthday which was still the right choice but sometimes he just can't deal with the kids in his grade.

Boys are…interesting lol. Some days they act like infants, and then randomly they will come up with something so deep and insightful that I wonder if they are famous philosophers reincarnated.

The thing we are finding with girls is that 12 is the new 22. It is terrifying for me to navigate. I was just a little naive boy in the 90s, I don’t think I started acting my age until at least college

I've watched her grow up via social media (hard to believe she's 12, wtf did the time go??) and I think she's amazing. You & her mom should be proud of her and of yourselves for doing a wonderful job raising her. I look forward to her future adventures.

Yea we have been dealing with the phone fight recently. We got the phone below as a home phone that she takes when needed. It has group texting, wifi calling, navigation, email but no browser or social media. If I did not have a free work phone I would get one!
