OT - NO POLITICS Spring has sprung

got my results I dont understand them so I messaged my doctor and they said they have to consult with the dr who ordered it. I asked will that be soon they said I have to call the other doctor.

Wtf isnt that their job to consult each other?

Since my hips went to hell I have had to hire someone to mow & trim the lawn. He does a great job but I really miss doing the yard work. I don't know if I'll be able to do it again once I get my left hip done but I sure hope so.

On that front I had a new set of x-rays taken last week. The 5% cartilage I had in my left hip is now gone (no shit Sherlock the pain level has gone off the charts the last few months) Not only is it now bone on bone but there is a ton of arthritis in there as well. I see the surgeon on May 7th. I think if all goes well I'm looking at mid September for the operation.

Why didn’t you contact the doctor who ordered the test? You can probably do it through the portal.

Brought a small crock pot to work to reheat my frozen homemade chili, soup, etc. for lunch. Best idea I've had in a while. No standing by the microwave waiting at lunchtime. The only downside is it doesn't have heating levels, so I have to unplug it at some point to keep it from burning or boiling. At some point I might buy one that has a "keep warm" feature but for now this will work.

I can tell you that in the last several years of living in a state that barely gets by with medicine, you have to be your own advocate. Jump on your portal and ask questions. Don't let your case fall to the bottom of the list.
Wishing you the best.

Don't feel bad I managed to kill another "unkillable" plant, a bonsai plant.
I've killed 3 bonsai. They have a really delicate ecosystem and they are impossible. My houseplants are all doing well, as long as I don't give them Arizona water.

Sunday night I had my first major non scale victory since starting my weight loss journey back in late September. After the fire alarms went off (legit fire somewhere), I climbed 4 flights of stairs and was not winded. Wahoo! I'm down 40lbs since I started and have about 40 more to go.

It doesn't matter where you live, you have to be your own advocate. If something doesn't feel right, you have to speak up.

Thanks! I do still eat cookies just in moderation and not every day. One thing I've learned with my dietician and therapist is that you cannot deprive yourself of say a cookie or piece of chocolate. If I want a sweet treat I know I need to make smart decisions about what else I eat that day to balance it all out.

New piece of decor for the main floor bathroom

Perfection.

Admitting the problem may be me, I’m just going to come out and say I want to punch every tourist wearing their marathon finisher medals around the city today. Yesterday we cared. Today, you’re just in the way of the locals. 😉

As a former Boston finisher, I agree.

Medals end after race day. But rock the shit out of your finishers jacket.

I really need to figure out who to complain to about this. There's just no need for it to look like this. Final resting places should be impeccable. Especially the infant and baby angel sections. It's just so disheartening.

If a municipality owns the cemetery it is probably at the mercy of the public works department. I'm lucky both sides of my family are buried in private cemeteries that are well cared for although you do have to trim around your family headstones. Most people around here do that around Memorial Day.

Good luck! :crossfing

I believe the Archdiocese of Boston owns the cemetery. I've heard from many folks that they have brought this up over the years and nothing has been done.

I'm hopeful I can I ask get an email returned. Otherwise, I'll just keep going for free to make sure these little ones have a decent place.

I'll try my best!

Thanks @BMC ❤️

Most of my family is burred in St. Aloysius cemetery in Springfield MA and they do not allow fake flowers, probably due to the mess they cause.

Unrelated but funny story

A former boss at the Bakery I worked at used to lock up and open three cemeteries for the Dioceses in exchange for free tuition for his kids.

He saw so many weird things. Best one was locking a guy and his lady friend in for the night after he was mad their interrupted them in the act.

My uncle has to go up to the cemetery this week to add dirt to where my grandparents and uncle are. The dirt around the headstone is sinking because of where it sits in relation to how that section naturally drains. It sucks when things are not maintained but usually there is an explanation for it.

I'm glad my dad got cremated. If I want to visit him I just go to my mom's and sit in the tornado shelter. It is a pretty common practice here to keep urns in shelters, especially in the spring. Dad is in a small cooler inside of a large Yeti one. The man loved a good cooler so it is truly perfect.
