My concern with Berra is that is positioning is absolutely atrocious and he over commits to the puck causing him to fall backward and flail around like a fish out of water. I've yet to see him look poised.

Berra looked good at TC. You guys are panicking over a game you didn't see. Give it time.

I think the two games he played before this that people did see are probably factoring in as well. Two goals on the first two shots is not a way to put those fears to rest.

7 goals in 60 some minutes on 32 shots...

Good thing they didn't have a quick hook last night. It would have looked really bad if they puled him after the two goals he gave up.

That would have made it 4 goals given up on his last 7 shots going back to last year. He seems to have a lot of trouble with his starts to games.

Or maybe Berra just isn't fit for the kind of teaching that Allaire gives?

I've seen goalies going from good to bad. Or from decent to very good. Or from good to bad to good again. Never seen any going from very bad to good at age 28. Goalies peak at 26-30. He'll turn 28 in a few months. That's not when you learn.

If Berra really is that bad Roy is not going to sit back and just watch his goaltending blow up. He will do something about it. And the contract Berra signed is not the issue everyone thinks it is. It's not like he's paid like Varly, he's making less than Hunwick was paid to sit in Lake Erie. And stop suggesting other teams' castoff sad solutions. We are not going to use Bryz, Marty or Budaj. It's never going to happen.

Ah. Didn't catch that.

I wouldn't be opposed to it if Berra falls flat on his face early on.

I think Roy would just go with one of the young guys, in this case it looks like Will/Pickard/Aitto. Send Berra down to the minors for a little while. It's not a big salary and we've already seen him do it with Wilson and Hunwick.

Likely. Sounds like Will has looked the best of the other goalies.

Was just popping in to confirm the sky is definitely falling.

Seems to be the case.

Its preseason. The pro's were gliding more or less. Berra looked rough, but I'm not going full panic until this sorta performance happens in the actual season.

Brodeur's numbers in New Jersey were only slightly better than Berra's numbers in Calgary. He's not much of an upgrade.

Found a better pic.

Unlike many of you, this isn't something that would surprise me. One year contract, I think he'd do a similar job than what Giggy did last year.

Marty is done, I don't know why any of you would want him. NJ gave him way too many games last year and that's why they didn't make the playoffs.

Pretty sure they didn't make the playoffs because they couldn't score goals nor win in OT nor win in SO.

If Varly goes down we have a Berra/Will(?) duo with a bottom tier D. Is that what you want?

No, the main reason was giving Marty 39 games. Anyone who watched the Devils/Marty know that.

There's not much difference between Berra/Will and Brodeur/Berra or Will.

I want Brodie exclusively because the drama would be hilarious. Hockey-Brett-Favre trying to keep his mouth shut while sitting behind a clearer superior goalie with a clearer superior legend at the position on that same bench as his HC? That would be hilarious.

During games you'd be able to literally see the tears brodeur was crying on the inside, and the fury this caused in him. I would make the trip out to Denver just to watch brodeur be sad. Wouldn't even care what happened in the game.
