Maybe you all liked the podcast when it first started getting big. But now it’s an established brand. The hipsters will say it sucks and find petty reasons to back up their claim. It’s consumer familiarity, boredom. find new podcasts and circle back in a year.

I've noticed for a while that sometimes when RA does ad reads, he addresses them to Biz. like in the most recent episode during the Roman ad, he says something like "no more embarrassing trips to CVS, Biz". He's done this with other ads from bland products like Zip Recruiter as well. I wonder if he is intentionally razzing Biz or just trying to make the ad reads more organic.

You're reading it wrong. RA is 20 years older than those guys. He was at Barstool 20 years ago with Portnoy when they were a Boston blog. He's totally genuine. He's just riding the wave now and good for him. He knows his stuff and does a good job.

Dude, RA is not 57, maybe not even 50 . Also, Barstool itself is not 20 years old. He started blogging in 2007 when they went online. Sorry to be nit-picky but those were major errors

Besides those overestimations, i agree that he is genuine and does a great job. He is a good host and moves the episodes along. Without him it would be so unstructured

I don't disagree, like I know their bread and butter is the interviews but even a little bit more research would be nice. It is a hockey podcast after all.

All the Grinell talk reminds me that I haaaaaaaate his hockey talk. Like he just sounds like he doesn't know anything about the league

Grinnell seems to know a bit about college hockey and local stuff but doesn't have any more NHL knowledge than a casual fan.

I'm surprised everyone is so sour on the recent interviews. I really liked Versteeg and Raycroft because they talked about the good and bad parts of their careers. Going back a month or so Roberts, Hanson, and Gillies were pretty interesting as well.

ESPECIALLY the razor interview was just great. The boys were buzzin doing live again, reminded me why I like the show in the first place

He's 48. But he' still a generation or two older than Biz and Whit. 11-13 year difference.

Whhy do they keep bringing the same people back? Avery gets old listening to why not get subban on for once. It seems like Avery, Gomez or Hayes are the only ones they can find to go on there now.

Anybody else hear RA's passive comment on how there is bias against American players?

Where exactly is the evidence to support that? Pretty sure if it was up to Bettman and the NHL there would be more Americans playing in the NHL than the NFL.

Avery at least made Whit's arrogant douchebaggery look mild in comparison. Only positive out of that interview.

Tenent was really not that good of movie. Impressive technically, some cool action sequences, irredeemable as far as narrative goes.

Agree with your first statement, there is more nuance to it. I do find 'kill stories' to be a bit gross, but I also realize it's more them being a product of their environment and it has seemed like Biz has dialed them back over the duration of the podcast and is learning that his language matters, not just his intents.

I was more commenting on specific twitter threads complaining about their lack of interviewing people of colour or women and how they did both in one week, which I suppose is less relevant posting it on HF than on twitter, but I don't really post on twitter just read lol.

As soon as Biz got serious with his girlfriend, the kill stories started to phase out.
There's nothing wrong with talking like that among your buddies but it's not good podcast content.

As for the interview diversity mentioned above, people have no idea what goes on behind the scenes with the pod. As far as racial diversity let's also remember how ridiculously white hockey is.
There also seems to be the issue that Barstool has such a bad public image in social media circles, they might get declined by women regularly. I remember some of the US Women's soccer team did some content with Barstool and got absolutely killed for it with social media.

People just like to complain. There are zero stories (from what I have seen) of any of those guys being rude to a woman or racist or anything like that.

I ran and hosted a podcast for two years. There was one week I had a male guest and got hammered on social media for not having enough female guests.... Of course none of them knew I had asked three women and one man to be the guest for that week. Two of the women declined, the third had a scheduling issue and ended up coming on the following week, and the male guest was readily available.

Then I had three weeks in a row with female guests and those complainers were nowhere to be found.

You can see the complaining here with someone saying that Scott Gomez was "always coming on" when he was only on like once or twice.

Where was he? I had to go to the bathroom and I think I might’ve missed him lol

I just want to say this show has the potential to be absolutely phenomenal except for one glaring weakness that is holding the show back. And that is the men who are conducting these interviews. Whitney, Biz, and RA are by far the worst interviewers I have ever seen in my entire life. They are just chomping at the bit every time a guest comes on to tell a story about their own life or insignificant career.

Two examples of this really pop up at me. The first one was when Tie Domi was being interviewed and talking about how he was playing basketball with JAY Z and how he was Jay Z's bodyguard at some pool party where people were getting tossed into the pool. Im not a big Jay Z fan but Jay Z is among a handful of the most recognizable human beings in the world, not only that he is extremely private and here we have a glimpse of this unreal moment with Tie Domi. Instead of asking more about what its like to hang out with Jay Z etc f***ing RA says " Talk to us about your fighting history with Rob Ray" You dumb mother f***er , you have a once in a lifetime moment to peek into the life of one of the worlds biggest superstars and you fail to recognize it and proceed to ask about Rob Ray?

The other was the interview with John Leclair. I grew up a flyers fan and as a flyers fan I can tell you the most interesting thing about John Leclair is that he was with Lindros for most of his Philly career that is it. Lindros again is one of the most polarized figures in hockey history who will forever have a huge status in hockey history. Here you have his most closest teammate and friend on the team and you ask him zero Eric Lindros questions. JFC How f***ing bad are these guys. Instead of recognizing what is sitting in front of them they rather just yak it up about back in the day stories or remember this stories.

I think this is part of the reason why I kind of fell off following and listening to it all the time. I feel like I'm asking more questions as a listener than what these guys are asking. I remember the episode with Pronger, they didn't even touch on the whole Edmonton situation with him leaving (probably juicy info there), or go into his Anaheim career further (big Ducks fan).

What other hockey creator is out there making content? TheHockeyGuy on Youtube is just plain boring and I don't find him interesting enough to sit through topics and listen to him.

Whomever is making hockey content out there is not getting the type of guests these guys are. Now i am pretty sure before some of the bigger names that go have a list of topics that they tell Spittin Chiclets they don't want to talk about . I get that, im sure Mike Richards doesn't want to talk about how pain killers ruined his nhl career. I also wouldn't be surprised if Pronger didn't want to talk about Edmonton. However that doesn't excuse the fact that they can ask really interesting questions or get some comparables you know. Instead they try to talk about themselves and the worst is Biz who tries to relate almost any story to fighting some AHL mofo we have never heard of. Its so cringe worthy at times.
