I watched Bouchard play in the OHL a few times and was always so let down with his lethargic play. Not much has changed.

Oilers ended last season obviously needing some upgrades in defense and at least a B+ goalie, and instead chose to downgrade the defense, keep the same goalies, and replace their youthful forwards with some past-their-prime forwards. Last season, the Oilers' high-octane offense put so much pressure on teams that it took substantial pressure off their defense, but this season the offense is misfiring on several cylinders and that is exposing what was always a flawed defensive build.
