IF Sony buying FromSoft would give that studio some more more $$$ to beef up their graphics and detail that would be great. I'd be too worried they'd torch the creativity of that studio though. That would also be pretty whack if they bought it and made FS games PS Exclusive.

At this point I'd be happy if console exclusivity went away completely. Nintendo is an exception because their hardware and game design is much different than Xbox/Sony/PC.

Halo possibly being on playstation would be great because it would mean a ton more people playing Halo. I just wish there would be equal concessions from Sony towards xbox. I was gifted a PS5 earlier this year but I otherwise never would've been able to enjoy TLOU 1 & 2, the Spiderman series, etc...Hopefully we start to see less and less exclusive games going forward

This would be the death of dark souls, and probably Sony.

I actually think Microsoft has the right idea regardless of how they’re hurting in the short term. Gaming right now is going away from games and into ecosystem. The new generation doesn’t care about consoles or even games, they care about where their friends are. They hit the mark with helldivers, keep tinkering there.

Aside from that, Sony would destroy from soft with their corporate nonsense
Sony have a much better track record about buying studios and having success than a company like Microsoft.

From seems to be able to do whatever the f*** they want. Rebooting Armor Core instead of just pumping out more Elden Ring stuff, for example. Or the rumors I've seen are that their next game is not Elden Ring 2. So I definitely get the worry that new ownership would ruin things.

But at least they already have a relationship with Sony and it resulted in one of my favorite games ever. So that's at least a good sign that they would stay out of the way.

Sounds like Kadokawa has received an initial term sheet, and the reason negotiations progressed is they are trying to avoid a hostile takeover from Korean company Kakao. They most likely want to stay Japanese owned.

The main play here is obviously vertical integration in the anime space giving them significantly more control over IPs and publishing, with FromSoft being a bonus for Sony. I believe if it goes through, Sony would control about 84% or so of FromSoft, with Tencent owning the rest. Who knows if one company owning that high a percentage of FromSoft would trigger Sony buying out the remaining shares.

If this acquisition means From Software will have the support of Nixxes on their future PC releases, I support it. Even if it means timed exclusivity. It's been over a decade since the disaster port of Dark Souls 1 and they still can't get it right.

Supposedly some early Black Friday sales going on, you lot can pick up Elden Ring or Person 3 for under thirty American dollars.

Still haven't played Bloodborne. Waiting for the alleged remaster to experience it for the first time with some beefed up graphics.
My friend is a huge FromSoftware nut and he keeps on telling me it's their best game ever. Aesthetics it most definitely is, I love the Halloween setting, but I prefer Elden Ring's gameplay personally.

Well....you're both wrong. It's Sekiro.

I'd put Bloodborne pretty easily above Elden Ring, though. What makes Elden Ring great is also what holds it back. Just too big. Unbalanced. In Bloodborne, and especially, especially Sekiro, bosses could be designed around a character being roughly a certain level and having certain weapons.

I agree with you but that's also the reason why Elden Ring has been their biggest hit: accessibility.

People can struggle against a boss in Elden Ring and go around and do other things and the come back and stomp it. You actually have to learn to play in a game like Sekiro as there is no real way of being overpowered.
