Brilliant idea.We could start by drafting such players instead of acquiring them in the twilight of their careers.
We could use more David Broll's, Jamie Devane's, Tyler Biggs, and Brad Ross's.

I would take any of the 3 guys that came after Wilson instead in that draft. You are wasting our time. Try to be more constructive. I know you must have it in you. Maybe start with Wendel Clark and move forward. You can even put away your Leaf glasses for awhile and look at other teams' draft picks such as the Tkachuks, Tom Wilson, etc.
New thread; Is this the most talented Leaf's team since 2000?

Yeah, totally. The decision was to not put in the effort, the result was the loss.
Yeah, totally.
They all came together and decided that they weren't going to try in a game 7.
Definitely happened.
Can you tell me where in the draft those players were drafted? And who was/were Toronto's GM at the time each of those were drafted? Just curiousYou are wasting our time. Try to be more constructive. I explained the play several times. If it wasn’t a decision , was it instinct? If it is instinct, what do you do?Yeah, totally.

This may come as a shock, but other people don't care to hyper-focus in on these meaningless instances as much as you. Given your description of other events (especially regarding Nylander), this description of yours is questionable, but it doesn't really matter anyway. If Matthews wants to whack a guy back, cool. If Matthews wants to laugh in somebody's face as they take a penalty and fail to provoke, cool. It has zero impact on who wins/loses the series, and neither are "soft". In fact, if anything is going to be most beneficial to the team, it's drawing the penalty.Maroon tried to rag-doll him and AM turned around and whacked him. But you knew that.
Suspensions are never "beautiful". They are detrimental to the team. But yes, I remember the ridiculous suspension he was handed last year for something nobody else gets suspended for.FYI, he also took a suspension last season. I’d suggest you google it to see how beautiful it was.
They did put in the effort. Wins and losses obviously come down to more than just effort. I can't believe that has to be said. The decision was to not put in the effort, the result was the loss.
Other than the fact that his reactions were not meaningless in that it demonstrated a significant change in his on ice character. A characteristic that is critical to leading a winning team. This may come as a shock, but other people don't care to hyper-focus in on these meaningless instances as much as you. The reactions were meaningless and not really all that different. They had no impact on the outcome, and neither were "soft". The reaction that came the closest to having a positive impact was him drawing a penalty. You don't need to whack people in retaliation to lead a winning team. That's silly.Other than the fact that his reactions were not meaningless in that it demonstrated a significant change in his on ice character. 1. MacdermidThe toughest guys on the Avs were....?
I would say that MacKinnon is a power forward, much like Sid but not as good.1. Macdermid
2. Landeksog
3. Mackinnon
4. Manson
5. E. Johnson
6. Kadri
The thing about the avs is that mackinnon and landeskog were skilled players who could also destroy the other teams physically if anyone tried to push them around. Landeskog and Mackinnon could be an enforcer or power forward if they weren't so talented.
Yes but he's definetly tougher and rougher than sid... He has bloodied quite a few players in fights or reverse hits when it gets chippyI would say that MacKinnon is a power forward, much like Sid but not as good.
What are you smoking? Bunting is not soft. Matthews is not soft. Jankrok is not soft. JT is not soft. Aubel is not soft. Simmonds and Clifford are not even close to being soft. Kamf is not soft. Marner is not soft. That said Nylander is hot butter soft and a coward to boot.As of today.
I can’t remember a forward group that projects to be less physical or softer than the upcoming bunch.
Even the dark ages there was always a Belak, Bell, Deveaux, Mayers, Rosehill, Brown, Orr, McLaren, Sill, Clarkson, etc. That breed of player is all but extinct and they were awful impact-wise, but so were those entire teams. This convo isn’t even limited to enforcers but any name with functional physicality (would be too many to list).
The recent rebuild iteration has always been generally soft, but at times still featured names like Kadri/Martin/Komarov/Boyle/Hyman, Simmonds/Clifford/Ritchie/Foligno, etc.
This season, no joke, we are likely looking at Bunting and Aube-Kubel as the most imposing Fs.
Sure, Simmonds/Clifford are still contracted but the expectation is that they will not be permanent parts of the everyday team with talk of a revamped 4th line.
IMO the only recent team that compares is the 2018-19 bunch with guys like Ennis, Lindholm, etc. on the 4th line and Kapanen, Johnsson, etc. on the 3rd.
Even if more transactions trickle in (i.e. Kerfoot out), I don't anticipate this changing much as a lot of the dust has settled and they would be cap relief moves for the most part.
Aubel, Kamf, Jankrok. Asks me what i'm smoking. What are you smoking? Bunting is not soft. Matthews is not soft. Jankrok is not soft. JT is not soft. Aubel is not soft. Simmonds and Clifford are not even close to being soft. Kamf is not soft. Marner is not soft. That said Nylander is hot butter soft and a coward to boot.
and it happened. Tkachuk 8 x 10.5 (9.5 is tax-free state cap hit, we can't get that) is better than what we will be paying marner over his entire career. I would have done the swap if Tkachuk is anti-calgary and not anti-canada. Tkachuk-Matthews is your playoff winning duo. Matthews-Marner is the president trophy duo because Dubas doesn't do anything to balance out the rest of team. Tkachuk makes up for all of Dubas flawed bottom 6 ensembles. If Marner keep thinking his cap hit should be close to matthews, we might have to make hard decision and do a marner for tkachuk swap. That's the only thing that bothers me about marner otherwise he's one of my favorite hockey players. When it comes down to doing business he thinks he's in matthews tier and that annoys me very much.
Put feeling aside, tkachuk at a 8 x 10 or something is more value than a 8 x 12 or higher for marner and maybe even more value than what marner provides now on his current deal since he seems to not have fitness level to put up goals in playoffs.
I am having trouble deciding if it's coincidence matthews > tavares > nylander > marner when it comes to fitness levels is also the same order of their playoff goals 82 game paces matthews > tavares > nylander > marner
It goes on as long as TOR's futility.Hey, would you look at that! Another negative thread.
If the Leafs were going hard after Matt Tkachuk then this thread wouldn't exist because we would have one of the best powerforwards in the game to add toughness in the top 6.
42 goals 104 points 8th in NHL scoring only 2 spots behind Matthews. Together these 2 would be deadly.
And Simmonds and Clifford shouldn't me in an NHL lineupAubel, Kamf, Jankrok. Asks me what i'm smoking.
