I'm no expert, but this truly seems like they're actively trying to bury this whole debacle, I could be wrong, but there's just no way it takes 5 years to investigate this shit

To be fair. I’m not saying I know what is what in regards to this specific case. But from a wide range general perspective these type of crimes are generally pretty difficult to prosecute. They generally have pretty low conviction rates to the point that they’re often not even taken up by prosecutors in the first place.

I think from the NHL’s standpoint I think they’re in a tough spot because if the court system doesn’t levy any penalties against these guys & they do they know the NHLPA is gonna fight them over it. From what ASF has said it sounds like the NHL at this point is waiting for the court system to lay out their cards so they can go from there.

I was thinking along the same lines, LoD. Isn't this also complicated by the fact that none of these players were NHLers when the alleged incident occurred? Then again, the accused may have already been NHL 'property' or even been under contract. Then there's the matter of criminal vs. civil prosecution.

Let me emphatically state that I want to see this whole affair resolved quickly with all involved Team Canada members tried and charged appropriately. And if Hart was involved, I hope that we don't see him ever again in a Flyers uniform.

Yeah this makes the most sense or it is just way worse than originally reported and that is why it is taking longer. Could be that while investigating the 2018 team they uncovered new claims against older or more recent teams or something and they are now looking into those or something. But the occam's razor of these things move slow is almost certainly the case. While it is frustrating for fans, imagine being the victim and having to watch this unfold. Ugh. What a mess.

See I get that, my thing is, you can't trade these players, you can't really do anything with them, if you sign them long term, then you're screwed as well (if they are involved) if you sign them to short term deals you run this risk of doing that until they become ufa and could screw yourself that way, just so many variables and unknowns with this, I do think however if they knew it was going to take this long, they should have made sure there were absolutely zero leaks to the information, as now this makes the police department, the players, and the nhl look bad

Please also note that I wouldn't be posting these tweets if there were not this thread specifically for the social media dreck. And this does appear to be a positive thing: I doubt Briere would publicly back Hart if he knew that there was a giant poopstorm about to hit.

Unless Briere had no clue the giant poopstorm was about to hit, which would be the Flyerest outcome of all.

Even if Carter Hart is guilty and Briere knows the report is coming why would he publicly state it before hand?

This isn't like the Blackhawks situation with the Flyers covering anything up. If I was in DB shoes I'd just play the cards as they flop.

Danny Briere: Doesn't know why one of this team's top prospects isn't at development camp, but knows why his starting goalie has deactivated one of his social media accounts.

What part of my shitpost made you come to that conclusion? I'm not at all saying he should publicly state it beforehand, that would be insane.
