Saka still made things happen though. Foden didn't do anything. I think the biggest problem with Foden is that everyone is desperate for him to be the next Gascoigne when he's just not that type of player. He's not a playmaker. And he's definitely not the player you build your team around when you have Jude Bellingham.
Saka is pretty much a pure winger though and he is playing that spot.
I mean, he is a pretty good playmaker! Just have to watch him at City to see that. He was top 10 in the Prem this season in expected assists... and he has 0.27, 0.23 and 0.26 xA/60 in the last 3 seasons... 6th, 10th and 12th in the league.
Bellingham is better... but it does not have to be one or the other. City comfortably accommodated Foden and KDB (and Bernardo when KDB was out) this year and last... with Haaland ahead of them... and they all shone.
But Southgate cant even adjust tactics in game, he has no idea how to use attacking players in general.
I thought Foden was more central for City this season
This year he was. But last year he was close to as good playing mainly the hybrid LW role.
He plays basically LAM for City with De Bruyne/Bernardo as RAM with two guys there... though City set up in a far more fluid way than England and it lets him play basically LW/LM, AM and RW/RM in same game.
