So the search for a new USMNT manager was an act I guess

Not necessarily - new sporting director came in and directed his own search and ended up choosing GGG. It's not like GGG was hired and then the sporting director!

I'll admit I have a higher opinion of him than most do, but if the options were GGG, Curtin, Marsch, Veira, etc... then GGG is at least 2nd, if not 1st on the list. I don't know enough about Veira to have an informed opinion.

In general I don't think the USMNT position is that attractive.

Meh, with how bad we were this year, Top 4 next year should be the goal, and top 6 the expectation.
I like Poch but I expect Liverpool to be better. Who the heck knows about Spurs. United is good but they have problems winning away from home. Newcastle will continue to improve. I think top 4 might be difficult, should finish in the top 6. Didnt realize Chelsea is hosting Liverpool week 1.

City is City, and I expect Liverpool to be back up. Arsenal are likely to be there.

Unless Newcastle make a bunch of signings, they're gonna struggle with additional competitions. They don't have much in quality depth, so a few injuries and they're plummeting.

United is a wildcard. Can't decide if the rest of the PL was just bad or they were decent. Also laxking depth in some key areas.

Spurs likely are a top 7 team this year. I'm not sure I see a top 6 quality team there if "everything else" gets back to normal.

If we can sign someone who can score goals, we'll be fine. We had an awesome defensive record despite out position. We just couldn't find anyone (literally, anyone) who could put the ball in the net. I think we're realistically 5th next year maybe pushing for fourth.

Incredible late comeback from Scotland away to Norway. Huge three points towards Euro qualification... 9 points from three games, including a win against Spain.

Great start.

Regarding United, I think they key word is inconsistent. It relates to your point the lack of depth factored in this. If a key player like Casamiro was out or Maguire had to play it was so obvious.

Hopefully they can do a slight overhaul to the squad. ten Hag with a full year of experience in England should go a long way too. He dropped a bunch of points due to his substitutions. But that ties into the squad and so many matches

You can't work out if the team that won the league Cup, made the final of the FA Cup, the semi final of the Europa League and finished 3rd were any good this year?

Wut...

Chelsea were in 3 finals the league before and look where we are.

You had good results this season, while two of the other usual top 6 were garbage. I don't play the what if game, but you'll have to forgive me for thinking that there isn't much there that screams prolonged success.

Inconsistent probably isn't a bad way to look at it (and yes, I'm aware of the home record under ten Hag).

The lack of depth really was a problem. I do expect that to get fixed this season, especially if the takeover is expedited, but im not sure I would feel comfortable penning United as a top 4 as things stand.
