i blame the coach...no way you park the bus up a man leading
They didn't really park the bus. LAFC had little time and nothing to lose, so they pushed everything forward. It isn't like Philly played with 11 men behind the ball for 30 minutes.

One poor piece of defending and a (former) world class goal scorer was enough for it to slip away.

So disappointing.

Being up a man, being hemmed in your own third, and allowing a cross seems very chokey.

Plenty of good golfing I'm sure.

Good golf and top totty. I’m sure he’s smashing it day and night.

Brutal penalty.

Blake told him which way he was going and he shot there, anyway...

Oh, man... even worse.

Unstoppable second penalty from LAFC.

Not looking good for Philly...

They're going to get shutout in a shootout... Brutal.
Very Flyers-esque.

As a Newcastle fan since whenever nbc sports started airing games in the states, I keep expecting the rug to be pulled out every week but they just keep on winning while looking fairly dominant doing so. My expectations for this year was mid table and not being in a relegation fight. Unbelievable what Howe has done to transform them and keep them winning despite the lack of depth and injuries. They could honestly be undefeated if the refs didn’t let Liverpool play on and on until they finally scored and quite frankly they haven’t played a game that they “deserved” to lose yet this year. Still not sold they’ll finish top 4 but if they simply qualify for Europe next year, that would be a huge win compared to where they were a year ago. Thought it’d take years to get the Ashley stink off the team…

There are six guys in blue above the ball here and it is - and will forever be - the dumbest loss in Philadelphia professional sports history.

Definitely good for the league to have them being competitive. The fan base is one of the best and has had some serious heartbreak. That collapse in the mid 90’s was legendary and I don’t believe they have ever won a trophy but could be wrong.

As you said, great to see them moving on quickly from Ashley. Absolute worst.

I think it’s good how they are building a solid core/base before really splashing the cash that is coming at some point.

Was bummed when they were playing away while I was in England and had time to catch matches. Would have loved to catch a match at St James

I tried to watch the championship game but just couldn’t do it. The MLS style is so sloppy and open.

I picked them as my team back when I started watching football simply because their history reminded me so much of Philadelphia(specifically the Eagles)…. no trophies in the modern era(1955) but still have a passionate dedicated fan base that follows them through thick and thin. I caught a game against Liverpool at St James back in 2015(one of their few wins that season to boot) and it was everything I’d imagine it’d be. One of the best match day experiences in the world, I highly recommend it to any football fan. It’s so unique.

When you look at PL clubs, I wonder what their NHL counterparts would be.

The Flyers are Everton/Aston Villa. Used to be a big club, acting like a big club, spending like a big club. But in reality they've been mediocre for decades.

The Lightning are ManCity. Deep roster, have dominated the league for years. Always finding ways to spend beyond the cap.

The Penguins are Chelsea. Most people hate them because they should've gone broke 20 years ago, but were saved by the league/new owners.

The Avalanche are Arsenal. Had their most successful period in the late 90's/early 2000s, then sucked for years, made fun of by everyone else.

The Maple Leafs are ManUtd. Still can't get over the fact that they're not as big as they used to be. Trying to spend their way out of their misery, but to no avail.

The Hurricanes are Brighton. Small club, making smart decisions. More successful than they should be.

The Bruins are Liverpool. Large fanbase, pretend to be Irish. Inferiority complex.

That's all I got, I guess.

Basically when the Premier League was formed is when matches really started appearing on tv where I grew up in NY. Man United were on a lot and very good so they became my team. This is way before the internet so had very little idea of the history outside of the World Cup and catching European Cup games that would be on.

Man United and Newcastle had an epic rivalry back then from both trying to buy Shearer after he won the league with Blackburn, of all teams.

Remember when Roy Keane almost punched Shearer in the face? They really hated each other lol
