Tried hard? I saw that game. They were "professional" about it, at best until giving up those two quick goals. They had no passion for the game at all, even before those goals.

I repeat, just because Europeans think the bronze medal in hockey is a big deal doesn't mean North Americans do. Any more than they think third place in the Stanley Cup playoffs matter.

Let me put it another way. If Canada had to play one more game for the gold medal, and were forced to admit what team they would least like to have to play against in it, they would pick the Americans.

I have zero doubt about this.

Sweden had the easiest way to the gold medal game by far so naming them second best is ridiculous. Sweden didn't have to play their best until Canada and their best showing didn't match that of the other teams.

Well, if Americans can say they were the second best team in the Olympic Tournament, by disregarding a game they didn't show up for, because "they didn't care", Canadians should be able to overlook games Canada B didn't show up for, and say on paper they are still a better team than most, including the USA.
What is disrespectful to other Countries in this tournament, is giving up, and not playing your best hockey, and then still claiming to be better than the teams that beat you.

Americans were playing better than Canada into the semi final game. They were the best team till we beat them by 1 whole goal.

A failed Bronze medal game where they went through the motions does not change that for me.

Second best team in the tournament.
 
What a ridiculous subject to discuss, when it can easily be checked from the standings: Sweden. USA is the 4th best team.
 
Sweden and Finland were 2 and 3. USA shouldn't even be mentioned. Pre-Elimination games mean nothing. When it mattered the USA were done.
