This is realistically what I thought this series would be. Delivering a crushing blow to Toronto in the first round was this team's swan song.
The blown goalie interference call was potentially the difference between this series being 2-2 and 3-1, but the way we've been consistently out played there's almost no chance we win 4 of 7.
I think the franchise is in a really good spot. Encouraging young pieces in Lorhei, Poitras, Beecher, and Brazeau. McAvoy and Pasta getting some tough experience as they grow into the new leadership group. Swayman solidifying himself as the #1 goalie, having a great playoffs despite the team in front of him.
Those calling for a tank to rebuild don't really think through that we can tank for a half decade and end up no where close to where we are now. We have cap space to play with, and Sweeney, to me, has proven himself at making trades for NHL talent. Should be easier now that he won't also being trying to include a crap contract in any deal. I'm excited for this offseason and where they take this team.
