So.. Edmonton has to be the favorites coming out of the west, right?

I have a ME complex??? You haven’t even worked out I wasn’t the guy who made the comparison... that was a flames fan with a different Oilers fan making the rebuttal.

Moreover, my point is the relevance of these lost players in the context of the Oilers depth and their roles to the Oilers team. There are zero flames mentioned in my post, deliberately. How did that escape you?

Dont mind him....I think Flames fans have the biggest complex of any fan base. Dont know why. Go to Calgary puck, they obsess over the oilers and to a lesser degree the Canucks. They have the only fan board with active threads regarding other teams that generate more traffic than most of their other threads.

Not really. Personally I think the Canucks have a more balanced roster but I’m a Canucks fan.

I think the Canadian pacific teams are pretty close in strength and it’s probably going to be reflected in the standings and seems to be reflected in this thread too. They’re close enough that all 3 fans of the teams will think their own team is the best, It’s pretty hard to pick a big favourite.

Personally hoping we play Edmonton because I think it would be great hockey with lots of goals. I’m sure most fans want to see EDM/CAL though.

Simply based on how the BoA has.played out this year I think EDM/CGY would be more entertaining. That said I'd love to see VAN/EDM all the same.

Not a chance. I would be very happy to get in the playoffs and ecstatic to win a round.

I think you’re underestimating Klefbom, Neal and Yamamoto missing from the lineup. Klefbom is the teams top Dman that plays all situations, Yamamoto is a PPG player which no one on the Flames currently is and Neal would be one of the top goal scorers on the Flames. It would be more like missing Giordano, Gaudreau and Monahan. All 3 of those players have been key players for Edmonton this season.
Hahahahahahahaha

I can't even... you are comparing Gaudreau, Monahan and Giordano to a player who should be healthy scratched, a career AHLer who is at best a 3rd line winger and a second pairing defenseman.

This is comedy gold.

Neal- GP:50 G:19
Monahan- GP:64 G:21

Klefbom- GP:59 Pts:33 Minutes:1510
Giordano- GP:54 Pts:27 Minutes:1293

Yamamoto- GP:21 Pts:21 PPG:1.0
Gaudreau- GP:64 Pts:53 PPG:0.83

I'm sorry that you're living in the past about Calgary's best players but these are the facts for this season. Gio is still the best Dman on the Flames but the two best forwards are Tkachuk and Lindholm this season. The real joke is trying to compare the loss of Neal, Yamamoto and Klefbom to Calgary losing Lucic, Dube and Hamonic.

Lucic- GP:62 G:6 Pts:17
Lucic has less points then Neal has goals.

Dube- GP:39 Pts:15
Dube has less points then Yamamoto with almost double the games played.

Hamonic: GP: 50 Pts:12 Minutes:1060
Hamonic doesn't play close to the minutes that Klefbom plays and faces weaker competition.

Do you need any more facts before you tuck yourself in with your Johnny Hockey teddy bear?

And they have 16 more Power Play points. I generally, do not see players who are getting substantial power play time on effective units as bottom 6. The Canucks are shuffling players in and out of their 2nd line and their lineup generally. That's usually a sign that you lack depth.

The Flames system is also less offensively orientated. They've purposely put players in the lineup who bring physical play, while sacrificing offensive output. To compare just points isn't correct.
The Nucks are not shuffling players on the 2nd line at all. Jake was moved from the 3rd to the 1st for a couple of games before Brock was hurt and has moved back to the 3rd since we got TT. The 3rd and 4th lines have been blended a bit due to the fact we have been without Ferland, Motte, Sutter and Rousell for long stretches, at one point all 4 along with Beagle were out. Yet we still have the most 40 point players in the league while scoring the 8th most goals. Our 3 top lines are destroying the Lames 3 Lines so please explain how we have less depth? We also have 2 NHL players in Utica who are both 40 point NHL quality players. Imagine our top 9 with Ferland and Brock replacing LE and Rousell or Sutter. Both Sutter and Rousell would be in your top 9 and LE>Lucic. At least LE can still play unlike Lucic who can't. We also have Leivo, who would easily have been a 15-20 goal 40 point player.

Your so called D depth? Buds this isn't last season. Hammer, Gio Hanifan Andersson have all regressed, Brodie has been better. Marky>Rittich Demko>Talbot. If there's any doubt just take a look at that disgusting goal differential your Lames are rocking.

Avs are 2nd in the West with 81 points. 4-0-1 in their last 5 games with Rantanen, Kadri, Burakovsky, Grubauer, Calvert, Nieto, and Wilson all out. Been icing an AHL team and still have stayed 2nd in the West and only 3 points back of St. Louis.

Maybe I am a bit biased but feeling pretty good right now.

The Avs are going to be a force for years. Good prospects coming up and great cap management to add to what is already one of the top teams in the league.

I don't see it.

Oilers are a bit of on odd team with great high end talent up front without the depth so trying to figure out what they can do is tricky but when I look at goaltending I just don't see how they do it. Give them a good goalie and they could possibly make it out of the west.

Favorite means basically nothing before the playoffs start. Edmonton won't be labelled as the favorite by the expert heads, but they could absolutely go on a deep run.

I'd love to see the Oil come in and fight their way to the Cup. They got some issues but those boys got heart. If they dig deep, they could easily be a dark horse. Netminding is night and day af, turn that around and suddenly teams will fear.

Stone is out for Vegas and they won. Is this comparable to Neal or Yamamatoe being injured for Edmonton? Or do those 2 have more points?
