As hosts, will they have to ice a team? If so, those games will be massacres

Yes back in 1998 Japan iced a team as the host country. Edit: looking back on scores they did ok in this group
They were in this division
France
Germany
Belarus
Japan

They have 7 years to put a team together. Seeing what they did in 2008, I fully expect China will win double gold in hockey, even with NHLers

They probably already put a bunch of kids into some uber hockey work camp.

I know you are posting in jest...

USA 101
China 70

That was the score in Mens' Basketball during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and China was more advanced at basketball than ice hockey when they were awarded the Beijing 2008 Olympics. I think if NHL players go to Beijing 2022 then a single digit margin of victory for a top-tier nation like Canada would be considered a moral victory for the Chinese hockey team.

Is 7 years enough for the Chinese team to not get slaughtered in every game? #38 in IIHF rankings right now behind hockey hotbeds like New Zealand and Mexico. Will they have a team? I hope so, could be fun to watch.

Chinese Basketball 1000000x better than Chinese hockey. If Canada would win with only 9-0 it's because of politeness and perhaps a bit $$$$$.

I hope Sweden somehow gets to be in that group. William Nylander wins the scoringtitle in one game, lol.

Yeah, don't see their hockey results being pretty, that said it'll grow the game in the biggest country in Earth so that's always good.

If the NHLers can't go who is eligible to play in the winter olympics? I'm assuming AHLers wouldn't be able to go either. For Canada it would be like the Spengler cup team (uh oh).
