First snow storm in years for our area and it looks like it going to be a big one, plan ahead and stay safe!

National Weather Service just put out their early Winter Storm Watch which has the Westchester Area/NYC area expected to get anywhere from 10-16 inches of snow, more the closer to the coast you are.

not working wed night so this is sort of exciting. definitely not gonna be playing hockey thurs morn if we get a foot of snow overnight, but w/e.

I f***ing love snow. Especially blizzards.

Any of you bastards remember the Blizzard in ‘93? That was epic. The great thing about that blizzard was the fact that the asshole public school systems in Nassau county didn’t believe in snow days.

There was 2 feet of frozen snow on the ground and all we got was like, a 2 hour delay.

How about '96?

'96 was big. I remember being in high school and having a delayed opening, sitting in homeroom for like half an hour, then going home having not gone to a single real class after they announced an early dismissal. Such a waste.

But I remember '93 being bad as well. I remember that I always froze my butt off waiting at the bus stop in the freezing cold as a blizzard raged because they almost never completely canceled school.

my cousin's christening was that day. whole family drove to it. snowing like crazy on the way home. my dad had to keep pulling off the highway to wipe the snow build up off the windshield. my uncle drove back with us and was snowed in at my house for days.

i remember the frozen i storm around 1999or 2000. Where it was a ton of snow and then like a day of rain. We had no school for 2 days

i do remember some other big storms in the 90’s . Me and my friends would make bank shoveling. And we were only like 10-13years old. Just walked the 5 or 5 blocks around the neighborhood shoveling driveways

The early February blizzard in ‘13 was epic. Winter storm NEMO I believe. Most snow in 24 hours in CT on record. Anywhere from 24”-36”. We got something like 32” where we are in Fairfield County. It was over my boys and my dogs heads! We got 14” either a couple days before or after also, can’t remember. Legendary

+1

Snowblower worked very hard. Drifts were crazy too. Some grass showed in some areas with drifts just short of the house gutters. Couldn’t walk through it.

Both exciting and overwhelming. Happy i put replaced a deck with a patio this time.

Having lived in some real winter wonderlands (Syracuse, Denver, Minneapolis) since leaving New York I can tell you that what makes snow much, much worse in New York is the warmer temperatures that turn snow into slush so quickly. It’s a completely different experience.

BTW...your upcoming blizzard is a light dusting in the Arizona mountains right now. Enjoy!
