TV: SNL season 50 September 28, 2024

While I like the idea of what they are doing, but because it is sanctioned by SNL/NBC they are leaving some massive stuff out

It will interesting how the handle the next the next season when something legendary happens

Season 19 was considered the worst since the year when it was an all new cast. Season 20 was so bad they sacked 4/5 of the cast. That is the next episode. Will be fun seeing how they analyse what is considered the worse season of all time

NBC and Peacock will air a 3-hour special on February 16th celebrating the 50th anniversary of SNL.

An “SNL” 50th anniversary special, documentaries, and other celebrations are underway to commemorate a half-century of “Saturday Night Live.”

“SNL50: The Anniversary Show” will air Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 at 8 p.m. on NBC and also stream live on Peacock. The three-hour “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special will honor the comedy institution’s first five decades with current and former cast members, special guests, and lots of surprises.

If 2015’s 40th anniversary special is any indication of the 50th’s format, we can expect reprisals of legacy characters and famous sketches (the 40th revived “Wayne’s World” and “The Californians,” for example); montage tributes with clips from the past; and music performances.

I'll be honest, I have no recollection of the 40th anniversary. The 25th anniversary show was and remains pretty damn great, imo.

I remember Seth Meyers doing a poor job of going along with Norm during some sort of tribute to Chevy’s Weekend Update contributions, and Larry David saying, “no,” when Seinfeld asked if he was going to the afterparty. Lol. 10/10
