I'll go against the grain and say the scoreline wasn't fair relative to the Rangers' effort tonight. The Bruins were the better team, but not by much. Igor got outgoalie'd tonight. He needed to make that stop to start the 3rd to keep his team in the game. That 3rd goal deflated the team.

How can Drury and Dolan look at Panarin and think he's still a $12 million player? If someone would take him and absorb his full cap hit this summer there should be a statue of Chris Drury commissioned and built at 33rd and 7th.

Trocheck has one point--an assist in his last 8 games. There is no chemistry between him and Panarin that I can see and FWIW Kravtsov pretty much is floating around. I'm not happy with anyone on that line. We hear all the time how Laf is slumping--nothing about Trocheck. I like Chytil's line whoever he's playing with much better. Both Panarin and Trocheck are underperforming their contracts and not by a little.

That said I agree that the Rangers were very competitive and Igor gave up a weak one in the 3rd. The caveat kind of though is we got out of the gate slow and the Bruins made us play and score early and we were kind of chasing things after that. Swayman>>Igor in this one no doubt.

You are much more talkative after the losses lol

I agree with you on Chytil though, what does the guy have to do to get into the top 6? It's his 6th year as a Ranger and having a career year. Trocheck would be much better playing the 3rd line role with Laf & Goodrow or Kravtsov. Can Chytil get Panarin to get his head out of his ass? Who knows, but they have to try it.
I feel like I'm pretty vocal about the same issues no matter if they lose or win.

Even worse than tonight’s result is that me, my wife, and our daughter came to the decision that it’s time to say goodbye to our dog.

He’s been fighting cancer since July and it has eaten his muscle mass, as well as him blowing out his ACLs years ago, and now he is struggling to get up and move. He gave me a look when I went up to bed like, dad it’s time.

I’m going to miss him so much.
Kind of puts things in perspective doesn't it? I am so sick for you, beings I am a dog lover and own 3 myself. It's literally the toughest thing to do, to let go of your best friend, but yet is the most selfless thing you can do when that "baby" looks up to you and telling you with those sad eyes that "it's time Daddy". I am sure that since July you and your family have been giving him/her extra extra loving and maybe some special food and snacks along the way. Again, I am so sorry and Godspeed my brother.

Ah so I was right - he did give Igor a good snow shower right before the shot. No wonder the Boston feed only showed it once, briefly. (I have it set to start at the piece I'm talking about)

I'm 100% with Vally on this one.

I noticed it as soon as it happened and the first thing I thought of was Sean Avery.....that would be something he would do and they would all be at him for it . Did anyone go after Bergeron after that ? I fell asleep . I figured nobody would touch Saint Bergeron and I was likely right with vanilla we run out most nights onto the ice .

Just so we’re clear this *like* is for the Trocheck slander and not the Kravtsov part.

Trocheck is not catching anywhere near enough flack for his play. Absolutely abysmal. A total downgrade from Strome in every facet, including defensively and PK’ing. And funny enough, even in missing open nets and taking offensive zone penalties LOL. He’s basically Strome except with way worse playmaking, no chemistry with Panarin, and not as amazing of a lockerroom guy.

funny you bring up strome

strome has a whopping 24 points, is a minus 20, and has 5 more penalty minutes then tro this year...ill continue, strome has 1 powerplay goal, strome's point share is an amazing 1.3, tro is a 2.4, i can go on and on. the fact you'd rather have strome is just LOL

also hilarious that you talk about the locker room....because that country club atmosphere that strome brought here is the biggest problem we have right now

you want to talk about why we lost last night? The game scores from last night are hard to look at

This board always absolves the goalie of all blame, it can never be the goalie’s fault, even on the worst softies.
That's because Sam and especially Micheletti lead the excuse brigade. First thing out of his mouth is "I think he may have been screened, or I think it got deflected on the way in". I am sorry but, how in the hell does Igor NOT stop that deflection when it was so far away from him and NO ONE even remotely close to screen. You cannot give up a goal 1:19 into a game vs the best team in hockey, especially that they were on the back end of b2b. You gave them instant life, shut up the crowd, and this team is seemingly fragile even though recent success. NOBODY is making up for his somewhat once a game softies.
oh and btw, I'm not even sure that most of you think the 1st one was a softie, but I do. His reflexes on that shot were slow. He's got to stop that.

No I'm not serious lol. The blues would laugh at us.
Just like they did the 1st time.

The player knew exactly WHEN to do it. I would swear they practice that in typical Boston cheating fashion. That should be a penalty, and like Valley said, he's never seen it, neither have I. Reminded me of Avery play with Brodeur. Bush league.

Highlight of that game was Sam dropping "prepared to be mounted."

To be fair, we could have won 18-0 with Lafreniere and Kakko splitting nine a piece, and that still would have been the highlight of the game.

The Rangers should retire the booth when Sam retires and just not to announcers.
I missed most of the game and was mostly happy about it until I read this

He’s got a good point but they are not going to put a 11.5 million dollar player on the 4th line.
Send a team letter out that we are going with 4 #1 lines numbered 1A -1B -1C -1D.......it might fool him for a few days since he can't speak English in an interview.....right ? LOL...who knows....he might get mad and quit . Oh well...it is what it is & he is getting older and slower and now has a bank full of cash.....there is not much drive to work hard or play hard or train hard for him now .That is just who he is .....and he is never serious about anything . Get rid of him for half cap in some way and call it a win moving forward .

We never do anything together, We do not play as a team. We don't defend or backcheck as a team. We do not transition as a team. We do not attack as a team. We're not a team. We're a collection of individuals

All top clubs have the same thing in common. They work as a unit, move as one. They understand and execute the gameplan. We're so disorganized and out of sync. We're not in that tier... and I do not see us entering that tier.
On a real team.....somebody would have made Bergeron pay for the snow job. If we had done that to Swayman......what would have followed ? Gutless bunch of pukes . Nobody cares.....all there to pick up a check and a membership at the Country Club .

Also Panarin is the cancer on this team, can’t convince me otherwise. Borderline criminal his effort at this point, Gallant is just AV and Quinn when it comes to real accountability. This will come down to Drury taking his toys away
Drury is definitely part of the problem. Which is a whole other situation.

The ECF last year was a Trojan horse for this franchise, now the question is, will they double down that this team is a legit contender or will they play the long game. We’re in this weird in between and it’s not working out.
I'm laughing my butt off right now picturing a giant wooden horse with a Canes logo on the sides, entering Amalie Arena, the hatch opens and Rangers pour out, led by Tuba with a crazed stare looking quickly left and right to see which way is the visitors locker room, then he yells out, this way guys!

agree with every word of that, but these two things specifically are the two biggest contributors to why we suck at scoring goals / generating any intentional looks/volume chances. we absolutely suck at shooting, and generally speaking, most technical skills versus other teams. it cant be overstated...we really, really suck at shooting - especially snapshots. was watching mackinnon and rantanen the other day - and yes theyre two of the elite and not saying thats the expectation per se - their shots though aren't just a higher level, the way they can shoot youd think the rangers dont belong on the same ice as them. and beyond them there were several other players i saw receiving passes and firing seeds id love to see this team taking and with similar frequency as the avs did. things like making passes on the tape, receiving passes with speed, receiving passes on the backhand, shooting off the pass, attacking one on one, getting shots off quickly, finishing in tight, breakaways, and hitting empty nets are all below nhl average as a team, an unfortunate number being well below.

and then when it comes to offense...its everything about generating chances purposely 5 on 5 unless off a turnover or broken play. they never find a decent look walking into the zone 3 on 2 or 3 on 3. no one backs the d off with speed before pulling up, no one challenges 1 on 1, no one besides gauthier will dip the shoulder and take it to the net. and off the puck nobody ever drives the middle to take a d, there's no creativity in playing off each other ie carrying the puck as if theyre actually on the attack and knowing ways they plan to create a shot they want. instead, if we carry the puck into the zone its something like: pull up for a trailer who fumbles or misses the pass, throw the heels out and get closed on while gliding towards the boards before throwing a hopeless cross ice pass, or throw the heels out and glide further outside until closed out on the boards harmlessly. if we get possession off a dump in, any shot has some variation of pass around corner/perimeter until point shot with no traffic or get traffic but point shot miss way wide - with the occasional shot from the goal line or limp wristed muffin from the half wall. the only look we do have, that absolutely no one doesnt see coming a mile away, is the dot to dot cross ice turnover, or at best a whiff on the one timer. they never force teams out of position with what they're doing in a way that isn't wildly telegraphed. they make hockey look so gd hard, especially whenever they have the puck
100%. My post was already bordering on TL;DR with just the summary version I included, but you basically fleshed out the rest of my thoughts on offensive structure perfectly. Great post.

You know in the movies, how the biker gang does circles around the people they wanna scare, a few times? That's the Rangers. Then when they finally make a move, it's a nothingburger muffin shot. Per Vally in the post-game, when you get good chances, especially early, and shoot muffins, you not only don't score, you get the goalie into the game. No one breaks the circle formation to attempt to get inside.

Yea but what if it's not muffins? And instead the shots are blistering 99% expected goals but the goalie drank the pre-MSG game Steroid Shake that every goalie fcking drinks before they play us and they are now ULTRA into the game rather than soft-muffin into the game? What then?
