Well, ****.

I was pissed much much more with the Ottawa collapse in the third then I was with this one. When it became apparent they ran out of gas about halfway one minute into the second, I knew it was going to be a long night.

Win two, lose one. Win two, lose one. Win two, lose one.

You know, I'm alright with that scenario. That plays out to 109 / 110 points for the entire season, and it actually plays out for the Kings the remainder of the season also at 109 points. That's four more than they have ever had.

So stop your ***** ing, ***** es. We are doing fine.

Yeah, I agree. The Ottawa loss was harder to stomach because we just vomited a big lead. This one we never led, and just kept hitting setback after setback including posts, bad calls, bad breaks. Much easier to swallow. It's whatever.

2-1-2-1 is okay with me forever. It's an annoyance how we lost because we've seen this ****** movie so many times before (hell we wrote the script earlier today) but it's gonna happen, especially with the teams we've had on our schedule

Just going over random stats, it still blows my mind that two of the worst possession teams draw the most pp ops. ARZ-168, COL-161, while LA-131
I'm not really sure how that is possible.

That is a fascinating anomaly.

On it's face, I don't see how that's possible either. It doesn't correlate at all.

breathe on opponents and they fall to the ice in a heap as if assassinated

i.e. Brown's "penalty" vs. Kopitar getting completely gangtackled in front of the net with a cross-check by one player and a complete wrap by another.

Refs miss calls, I get that, but our propensity for grinding and using the boards for support and blasting through people instead of going down makes the optics different. I mean there was one shift tonight where Brown just skated right through not one but TWO pretty hard hooks and instead of spinning/falling he ripped one stick right out of the players hands  If that were Zucker/Granlund/Pierre-Marc Bouchard or whatever other pillowsoft skill guy that got that first hook he would have likely pirouetted into the bench.

Especially against teams playing their back up, on losing streaks, and can't score on the pp. The Kings checked all those boxes tonight.

Yep. So true. This team has had a bad habit of playing down to the competition and taking a few games off. That, to me, does not bode well for the first round of the playoffs. :help:

Now that some of the disappointment of the game has worn off, the crowd responded well to the Stoll tribute, many giving him an extended standing ovation. A little later in the game, and at different times, both Quick and Doughty gave Stoll a shin tap in passing. I'm sure other players did too, but those are the ones I saw.

We're lucky we didn't get called for slashing :sarcasm:

Only good part of the game. Touching.

Should have left at that point, considering what transpired.

thankfully I was pretty distracted during most of the game with my homework so I wasnt too pissed off by the end. Kings havent had too many of these games this season so Ill give em a pass. park n ride

This game was difficult to watch, I actually fell asleep with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd period. This game felt like it was over even at 1-0, they just didn't have it last night. It wasn't even like the Sens game where they dominated 50 of 60 minutes and a few guys were just royally useless after the first 50.

I'm waiting for a big slump to happen this year, I'm ready for it and have been expecting it but they keep avoiding it. Worst "slump" all year has been just the start, I don't even remember the last time they lost 2 in a row in regulation?

(also secretly hoping they finish 2nd in the pacific and get an easier matchup)

Reality, we have nothing to worry about, we're just not used to having a 10 point division lead so we worry about every bad game or period. (neither are the players)

Things don't always work out in a linear fashion. Maybe speed has something to do with it. The other team has the puck, they lose it, then take either a quick penalty or one while they're trying to backcheck.

The Kings don't always have the puck either. It's a volume shooting team, so if they're not getting to the net with the puck, there's less reason to take a penalty. Or, since refs are human, maybe they fall into a perception type trap. Kings are big, so they can take it.

Who knows, it's hockey. The refs have been the refs forever, and they make and miss calls. It evens out eventually. The difference between 168 and 131 is less than a call per game. It obviously adds up, but teams kill 4 out of every 5 PP's on average.
