Really excited for this one. I think Germany's got a better shot against the Swiss but this one could be good as well. Going to say 2-1 Slovakia in a shootout

Slovaks were outstanding (defensively) last night against Canada. This game’ll be totally different, though. I expect pretty tough match where both teams will show maximum effort. Because of that, amount of skill could be decisive here. Speaking of skill, Germans have Stutzle and Peterka, so offensive power is clearly on their side. Can’t give them too much space and even more importantly, we have to avoid unnecessary penalty minutes. It’s no mind games to say Germans are favourite in this one.

Is Germany getting their players back? More importantly are they getting a new goalie ?

Florian Bugl is back, but he hasn’t played or took part in the prep for the past weeks. So not sure if the coach will let him play.

But then again: Can’t get much worse right now. I feel bad for hammering on those kids in goal, the pressure was there and they weren’t ready for it. Maybe they still need some time.

Seider (D), Ancicka (G), Borzecki, Reichel, Reisnecker, Nijenhuis, Samanski, Varejcka, Kinder (F) - are the players who are out for Germany. They all would be on the team without a doubt

I hope Bugl has a strong game for them. I felt for Tiefensee the other night against Canada, he was just not ready for this level yet.

Excited to see what Peterka & Stutzle can do with some rest.

I was hoping they’d have a 4th line as well but appreciate the updates clarifying that is not the case.

The Slovaks have shown they can play a disciplined style and can be opportunistic

I like Knazko and Chromiuk on their squad, though I admit I’m still learning about them.

So this should be an interesting game. Best of luck to both Teams with few penalties and no injuries.

Probably the game I've been most excited for... we haven't had a shootout yet and I think the tourney is due!

Germans and Slovaks have both looked great. Facing Canada early is not an easy task.

I'm loving the younger Slovaks. Germans could've been a beautiful dark horse with Reichel and Seider (and their number 1 goalie who's name I have forgotten).

Most likely the winner finishes 3rd! Can't wait.

I'm going Slovakia 3-2 in a shootout

Wonder if Germans will have a defenseman play as the 10th forward instead of 7D and 9F?
I cracked a joke last game about using the 3rd goalie as a 3rd line winger.... however, in this case, putting the D on forward makes sense. Put him on wing on the bottom line (3rd I guess?).

I would say they will leave the 3 lines up front and go with 7 d. If there is an injury or someone overextends themselves they can use Raabe up front for a few shifts.

Germany won't be a factor tonight if they don't get a few saves from someone. Slovaks have received two quality games in goal and it's hard to see that changing tonight.

As was expected, Coach Petrovicky has announced Šimon Latkóczy will return to the Slovak net tonight versus Germany. Simon of course has one win, a 1.00 SV% and .000 GAA thus far this tournament.

Alarm clock is set to 3:20 AM. Glad I’m still on vacation. They better deliver!
Whenever I see Posts during the NHL Season of North American members complaining of start times for games I remind myself of Posts like this.

Much appreciated. It was definitely easier to follow the NHL back in BC, but then again I can follow my beloved Kölner Haie easier now.

The toughest choice is actually beer or breakfast?
