Thought it'd be a good time to post the tiebreaker rules... overall GF/GA is not used so beating the shit out of lesser nations really doesn't break any potential ties. I can't think of one instance (and I'm hoping someone can and will correct me) of a top 5 nation beating the tar of a bottom nation and getting a better QF opponent?

Step 1 is the head to thead record between the 2 teams... let's 'assume' that the top 2 teams are Canada and Finland... going into NYE they should be tied... GF and GA will mean nothing because first tie breaker will be head to head. Eg. Canada could be plus 275 and Finland could be plus 10... if the Finns win, they are first.

I'll take Canada 10-2. Rest up for the German game Slovakia... third is very much in your reach! (same for Germany).

Hlavaj in the net.

Kašlík moves to the position of 2nd line centerman.

Turanský and Petrovický make his WJC, Myklukha and Mešár are supposed to be listed as HS.

I like Kaslik moving up. He always looks like a hard working, responsible two way-player to me. Skates well too.

I wish Stacha would see more icetime also than in the opener.

Not expecting Slovakia to have any chance winning this one, but hopefully it won't be too painful of a blowout.

But don't they now re-seed teams after the QFs? If the teams in question are from different divisions, then the head to head tiebreak is null and void. Goal differential could mean an easier semifinal as well as home ice for the semi and GMG. Maybe I'm wrong on this. Any verification?

If Oleksij is scratched and Kaslik moves to second line centre, who moves to first? Jellus was dominant in FO versus the Swiss, that's what I would do.

I think you're right... the reseed is correct. I'm just curious if the drubbings of Austria and Germany will factor into semi final placement if US and Canada reach semis (just using them becuase of their recent anhilations... could apply to Sweden destroying us as well or whatever Russia does to Austria and the Czechs.haha)

Always nice to see good Slovak and Czech teams in international tournaments.
That said, this one will likely not be close.

Thanks for the memory!

The fact that that was considered a penalty at all is a complete joke. That is a PERFECT hit.

Some of those Canadian junior teams used to strike the fear of God into their opponents with our physicality. That was a devastating but clean hit by Camara.

I remember Tootoo’s year as well he was just murdering guys every shift. European teams were not prepared for that style of aggressive in your ****ing face type of hockey.

The game has changed but a relentless forecheck will always be a hallmark of the Canadian Way.

Today is the 22nd anniversary of the Canada 0 Slovakia 0 double shutout game at the World Juniors in Winnipeg. Slovakia would go on to win their first bronze medal thanks to a Ladislav Nagy hatrick versus the Sedin twins.
