Hilarious to see the shift in narrative here now. Before it was "Leafs arent getting anything significant back of value for someone who's ben a healthy scratch and isnt good. Might even have to attach a pick to get rid of him"

Now its "lol leafs got fleeced. Liljegren can easily be a top 4 Dman. Great trade for the sharks"

Wishing the best for Liljegren on the sharks

Good move for Liljegren and the Sharks.

Disappointing for the Leafs but they do get space. He clearly wasn't working out here.

Still, a win for SJ in my books. Best of luck Lily.

This has potential to be good for you guys. He just wasn't consistent enough for us but if he figures that out he will be a good add.

Clearing that cap space is worth a ton to us.
Even if he never evolves into a consistent top-4 D, this is worth it for the Sharks. We need a guy with solid puck skills and skating desperately, especially a righty.

Would have gotten a 1st at the draft right? That's how this works?
Benning with 2 years left is negative value.

3rd + him is basically 0.

Anything would have been better than that. Even letting him walk and save the 1,25 millions per for 2, years.

Clears almost $2 mill and adds picks for ammo at the deadline if needed. If not, it’s an early 3rd with how bad the sharks are.

Gives Liljegren a chance to play in a pressure free market with no expectations.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him succeed in a bigger role. He’s shown flashes of it.

Did you get anything significant here? A cap dump and a late 3rd that has like a 5% chance of becoming an NA pro prospect.

Man, that was a quick fall from grace. I can see why the Leafs wanted to re-shape the feel of their blueline. He was quite good analytically his first couple of seasons but as his usage went up, the effectiveness went down.

And he is just a big, wet fart in the post-season. He's just not a very playable blueliner in the playoffs - I think that is the biggest issue in Toronto, but that won't be a problem for the next couple of years in San Jose.
I’ve seen a couple people say that his play dropped as his usage went up. Last season when Rielly went down and Lily stepped in was probably the best we ever saw Lily play!
