He has the tools to be an effective bottom sixer, and showed that briefly under Sutter.

The past two years he has been stapled to Rooney who is arguably the worst player in the league, so I can see why SJ might think he find a niche at this level.

TBF, San Jose is one of the worst teams in the league, so I'm sure he will be also be flanked by bad players in San Jose's bottom 6.

Good for him. He is one of those guys that has to be playing at 110% to be effective and that is hard

With Sturm going on IR, if he plays, he'll go on the 4th line and it'll be Goodrow-Dellandrea-Duehr so yeah...bad players but we need some bodies to finish the season after we rent out a few forwards at the trade deadline.

when roster limits are lifted in 5 weeks, Grier flips him to contender as cheap depth F

Roon Dogg getting a contract on the first day of free agency a few years back was puzzling. Roon Dogg getting an extension after playing 50 games for the big club over two season was even more puzzling.

There's effective fourth liners (look at the Lomberghini) that get day-one FA contracts for the stuff they bring to the table... but how Treliving ever looked at this guy and said 'he needs two years, and he needs it today' followed by Conroy being like 'this guy has showed us over the last two years and 50 games that we need more of this' is wild.

Ya never made much sense. We were in a good position to overpay someone a 4C. We coulda paid someone 3M a year to be 4C.

If a player claimed on waivers is traded during the season and then the new team waives the player. Who is the “original waiving team” for purposes of re-claiming to automatically send down to the ahl if no other claimers? Calgary still?
