He has the tools to be an effective bottom sixer, and showed that briefly under Sutter.
The past two years he has been stapled to Rooney who is arguably the worst player in the league, so I can see why SJ might think he find a niche at this level.
TBF, San Jose is one of the worst teams in the league, so I'm sure he will be also be flanked by bad players in San Jose's bottom 6.To further elaborate on this (over the last two years)
With Rooney (213 minutes)
CF - 40.8%
SF - 42.93%
xGF - 42.55%
SCF - 38.59%
HDCF - 43.9%
Without Rooney (85 minutes)
CF - 54.27%
SF - 54.93%
xGF - 62.97%
SCF - 56.58%
HDCF - 59.38%
2 years agoNot surprised. Guy has a lot of characteristics people are looking for.
Could be interesting if he can get some time on a third line
With Sturm going on IR, if he plays, he'll go on the 4th line and it'll be Goodrow-Dellandrea-Duehr so yeah...bad players but we need some bodies to finish the season after we rent out a few forwards at the trade deadline.TBF, San Jose is one of the worst teams in the league, so I'm sure he will be also be flanked by bad players in San Jose's bottom 6.

Not likely. The Sharks need the depth forwards themselves.when roster limits are lifted in 5 weeks, Grier flips him to contender as cheap depth F
