My team (Lightning) is the only NHL team with only three goalies on NHL deals, but Halverson is doing great in the AHL, on an AHL deal. If circumstances ever dictated needing to sign a mid-season goalie I’d be worried he might be waiver snatched. I didn’t realize it was ‘foreign’ pro leagues that that rule only applied to.

If I'm not mistaken, him being on an AHL contract means other NHL teams are free to sign him.
