I’m just looking at it from an entertainment perspective and whether his fiery temper will play out. Whether he bombs or not or calls out slackers, it’s going to be fun to watch.

Oh, he's entertaining. His son was too when he beat up the other goaltender back then. He didn't care, he was a third string goalie and humiliated a teen in front of the province. So, from a pure entertainment point of view, he's likely to have an unhinged moment or two. But, I'd rather these guys like Babcock don't get rewarded after years of abusing kids.

And as part of his baptism by fire return (he was HC of the AVS from 2013-16, until he resigned), he’ll be at the BC next Thursday:

Congrats Casseau!

BC personnel already hard at work reinforcing glass partitions and doors.:sarcasm:

:m-dance:

Roy good coach. But his temper gets in way at times

makes sense.

LL loves his “ not allowed to cross the red line “ style of play. Roy fits perfectly.

Are you implying St-Louis will also get canned?
Nope. St. Louis will go back on the ice to mentor Macklin Celebrini

Then we will win the cup in 3
Clean sweep against the Leafs

Only 3 games because we win every game by 12+ goals, and the leafs decide to give up.

Yes we the return of the Nordiques, the Leafs move back in the Western conference.

but they all jumped at no experience MSL lol

Ah yes, Roy has such a great record as a coach. It only took him 13 years of leading one of the easy mode team in the Q to win it (paying so much for it that they are currently having the worst season in their history), even squandering an historic performance from Radulov back in 2005-2006 (but got lucky to be host and win the Mem cup on the back of Radulov anyway).

As an NHL coach, he had to be pandered with a VPHO position and still left because the GM wasn't being his mindless slave.

I'll never understand the cult status of Roy.

One can dream.

But I never said he would be better, but if the qualifications were 'none' at least Roy had coached before in the minors and ran a team. The Roy haters are always going to hate, so its an unwinable debate. I guarantee heads would be rolling after all these brutal zero effort losses and players would be sat though. What was the reason for MSL exactly? He scored goals?

So many people want this guy to fail, I don't get it.

Good for him, I might actually watch some of their games.

Good for him if he does great.

I'm just annoyed at people putting him on a pedestal as a coach while he's mostly been a failure for 18 years.

If you hire Roy in Montreal, you have to fire Gorton and Hughes.

If you cant understand his cult status as a player , nothing will ever change your mind

Saying they the won their 2006 cup as a host team :help:

You're right on one thing 524-255-66 is a great record ;)

If you hire Roy, you have to fire Hughes and Gorton. No way Roy would be able to keep his ego in check against these two.

The Habs are currently trying something out of the box by hiring a non-conventional GM and a non-conventional coach. Maybe it pays off, maybe it doesn't, but at least it's different than just recycling old coaches.

well our history of hiring gm's hasn't paid off, so I'm all for change at this point even if Roy burns it all down lol. Honestly though, they turned a blind eye to Robinson, it's like they have something against Montreal Hall of Famers wanting to come back and coach here. Tremblay aside...

But we're not talking as a player, we're talking as staff. Roy has done nothing as a GM/HC to earn the adoration he is receiving.

Sorry, they got in because the host team won the President's Cup, my bad. Same thing, they still got in because of the host team.

What about you look at his record coaching when it matters? Having a winning record with Halifax/Quebec in the Q regular season is expected.

But Hughes is a clear break from our usual GM hiring policies so I'm confused why you're acting like it's more of the same.

Bergevin didn't want any employees smarter than him. That left very few choices.

Time will tell , we are still using bergys players in our core which is hilarious. Let’s see how soft this team is in another three years because we really don’t know what type of team they are even building far as I know. If dach was here it would help , I could care less about newhook never liked him in jr B either

I mean, it's not like you can just wish players away. This is not EA NHL where you can just transform your team over night. Hughes took over a team with a bunch of long term contracts, many of which aren't exactly easy to trade (Gallagher, Armia, Dvorak) in decent trades.

He's already done something Bergevin never really did which was weaponizing our cap space, which was seen in the Monahan trade, Bonino trade and Petry part 2/3 trade.
