He is gonna need significant improvement for that. Super raw.

He doesn't seem to like contact, which is going to make his ceiling really low as a defenseman.

From what we were told, he was supposed to be a fantastic skater. But it looks like Stastney and Brandenburg are much better skaters.

At this point, he just seems to be the warm body out there with Josi. When Wilsby is back from IR, I expect Barron to hold down the pressbox.

How's barron looked? Capable of being an acceptable bottom pairing NHL dman?

He isnt the worst player ive seen. I think long tern he still needs to make improvement. He is our youngest dman at the NHL level though. Wilsby is 24 and just breaking into the NHL

Yeah, he’s just not impressive. Good size, skates well but not exceptional. Decent but not great puck skills. Not physical. Seems to panic out there. Since the season appears lost I’d be willing to give him run of games to see if he could put it together, but I haven’t seen much to suggest that he will.

This will sound dumb but if there is a vet that might be able to help Barron figure out the defense/toughness end it could be Luke Schenn?

Unfortunately playing them together isn't realistic with both being rightys.

I'm not any more impressed with Barron than anyone else but I'd sure rather see him out there than say Lauzon in our current situation. Might as well see what we can squeeze out of him, as unlikely as that may be if we reach full health.

Unfortunately playing them together isn't realistic with both being rightys.

Yeah, I was just thinking more daily practice modeling/mentorship rather than tactical deployment.

It seems workable to me... trade Lauzon and Schenn. They are the weakest links. Josi is a rover anyway so whatever, re-unite the Skjei-Josi top pair if you have to. I don't think Barron or Blankenburg are ncecessarily long-term solutions, but we can ride out this tank season with them.

Next year Molendyk lands as another LD. But we need to sign a UFA RD.

Lauzon traded to IDGAFW.

Give molendyk and gibby a year in the AHL before bringing them up. Trade blanker next deadline if things go sideways again. If he keeps up the level of play, it could be a nice return

He's a great partner for Schenn. He can teleport all over the place, read plays before they happen, handle the puck ... so Schenn can just coast around and maybe hit someone.

That sounds like someone that would pair well with Barron as well just without the hitting.
