Player Discussion: Simon Holmstrom

Don't look now but Holmstrom is on pace for 20 goals and 50 points in his contract year. Big, defensively sound winger finding his offensive touch playing with Horvat and Tsyplakov which seems like a line that could stick.

What does his next contract look like?
7 years of course .you fill in the rest

From the viewings I’ve had, the most improved Islander. It looks like he worked on his puck skills and shot.

No problem with signing a productive 23 year old to a 7 year deal, especially when the cap is rising every year. It’s when you start giving them to 30 year olds and adding NMCs where it becomes an issue
I'd be fine with a 6-8 year deal for Holmstrom at 4-5 million. Just have trouble finding a comparable outside Lundell or Kotkianiemi.

Wonder how the rising cap will effect his next contract. Gotta think his agent will push for 5+, esp with a top 6 role likely in store for him next season

I pegged him as a 40-50 pt, two-way middle six forward, if he could develop his fine skills; so far he’s on that path.

I like Holmstrom.

Philadelphia just re-signed RFA Tyson Foerster, RW, 23, to a 2-year deal for 3.75 AAV
Flyers drafted Foerster in the 1st round in 2020 (23rd OA pick). Career - 166 GP 48 G 35 A 83 TP

This is a comparable deal and one I would rather see signed than a long-term deal.
Holmstrom, LW/RW, 23 drafted in the 1st round in 2019 (23rd OA pick). Career 200 GP 41 G 38A 79TP,

Last season, Simon's statline 20-25-45 and Tyson's statline 25-18-43
