I think Hugo has every intention of drafting Eiserman at 5. So the kid wont be a PK specialist. He's 2nd youngest in top50, and is the most naturally gifted scorer, with size. Surely he'll be taught to work on his 200' game in University...
Hard to believe that we convinced the Leafs to give us a second round pick for the shell of the player that was Plekanec.Gallagher only really played with Desharnais in 13-14, and he scored 31G playing with Tomas Plekanec's corpse in 17-18.

Well if your one trick is to score from every which way, at every level - why not, Every team has defensive specialists, why not have an offensive one?Interesting...
Can he be contained in the playoffs though?
Is he a one trick pony?

Chicago fans are oddly obsessed with us, every day I go over to check if they got any new info on their preference and every day they're taking shots at us.
I hope they take Levshunov and we get Demidov. I'll be willingly going over there and taking some infractions.
Which one of Bedard/Demidov is winning the Selke?I feel you, but they're gonna luck out once again, as usual.
They get a decade of Kane/Toews, and as soon as they are done, they get Bedard/Demidov.
smh
Sennecke and Iginla I truly believe are viable options if Demidov and Lindstrom are off the board. Assuming Levshunov will be gone also.
Can’t see us picking Buium.
Demi or Lindy......we'll be happy happyI still think two D go in the top 4 - Chicago (likely) & Anaheim (near certain)- and we probably end up with Lindstrom (CBJ takes Demidov), which I'm great with.
But I think Dickinson rises into the top 5. After watching the playoffs, every team sees the high value and need for a large, physical, skilled and mobile defenceman. Plus, Dickinson brings that very rare commodity of leadership. He's the type of player you can build a team around.I get the feeling Silayev slips because he isn't at the combine and won't be at the draft.
Dickinson can be great. But this draft has a lot of great prospects. Some teams may miss out. Just like the KK year when there was a known top 12. And guys like Evan Bouchard and Noah Dobson fell to 10th and 12th respectively, even though many had them ranked much higher. But I think Dickinson rises into the top 5. I have been watching hockey long enough to know that a large portion of the supposedly 'good prospects' will fail to live up to their lofty pre-draft expectations. Despite all the scouting, analysis, expertise and projections expended, you need a bit of luck in your drafting methodology.Dickinson can be great. But this draft has a lot of great prospects. This year, Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, and Levshunov are good prospects. And we, at 5, don't want to take an LD... Plus there's Buium, Parekh, Saliev, Iginla, Senecke, Catton, etc...

Sennecke, Iginla, Lindstrom, Buium, Dickinson, Levshunov, Demidov, Yakemchuck are all 'good,' viable options at 5 OA. An argument could be made for any of them. The good news for Montreal is that we are going to get one of them. And if Hughes could do a little magic with 26 OA , this could turn out to be a pivotal draft in the team's re-build.
Pronman has probably the most accurate mock draft and he has Demidov going to the habs at 5.
Nabbing another high pick like 6 or even a 10-11 overall would be fantastic!Sennecke, Iginla, Lindstrom, Buium, Dickinson, Levshunov, Demidov, Yakemchuck are all 'good,' viable options at 5 OA. It's not happening. Even Levshunov would create a problem as we already have RB and Mailloux. Mailloux should be better than a third pairing guy as well so you're creating a bit of a logjam there as welll. If Leshunov is as good as they say, my guess is we'd take him if available. But he's the only blueliner I'd even consider and he's not going to make it to us.I just can't see them taking an LD at 5. You are basically putting your balls on the line that they are a number 1 defenseman in the league.
You won't survive passing on offensive talents two years in a row if you don't assemble one of the best defense groups ever built.. especially if you're picking a left shot defenseman which is our greatest strength.

We need forwards. There are tons of good fowards available. Don't overthink this, just draft one.
