Sign Marner and Tavares before playoffs?

That's how championships are won. The job of the organization is for management to put the right combination of players in the best situation to win. Dubas and Keefe were proven to be woefully inept and here we are. After that there is luck and things like that which factor into the outcome.

It could be that the M&M duo simply doesn't have that IT factor, that intestinal fortitude that's a prerequisite to playoff success.

So Seravelli thinks Avs have an internal cap that says nobody gets paid more than MacKinnon. Ranta asking close to $14m and so they are in a stalemate. Thinks Canes would be willing to pay him his ask.

Also thinks no stars have been signed because teams do not know what the cap increase will be.

What makes it puzzling is why Sakic would sign Blackwood after 5 games to 5x5 when he needs to find money for Ranta.

Given increases in the cap, it is possible. Drai is making more than McDavid. I do not see a problem with Ranta earning a bit more than Mac. The guy is a proven regular season and playoff performer. Marner being the highest paid Leafs, given his playoff performances after he took Dubas to the woodshed, makes me want to vomit.

MacKinnon is a level above and has won it. Rantanen is a better player than Marner. Mitch shouldn't even go above MacKinnon 12.8 and likely neither should Rantanen. As a % Nylanders overpay is estimated to be about 12.5m/yr. That should be the hard ceiling for Mitch and probably a salary match at worst for Rantanen(with MacKinnon)

Somebody would pay Rantanen $14m. Nobody should be paying Marner $14m for 82 assists and 25 goals when there are players putting up 120-140+ points.

That is why I have no problem paying Rantantan @$14 mil to play alongside Matthews next year, while Marner decides how much less than MacKinnon he will need to take.

He has to factor in that next year will be worth 6+ or have a media deal waiting for him. 12.5m x 8 should also be our line. If he wants more the NMC has to go for the last 5 years for Marner
