I don't understand why he isn't on the 4th line. yes, he'd be a pricey 4th line center, but have him with tangradi and thor and I think you'd have a decent shut down/checking 4th line.

I really want a James Wright jersey. This was the highlight of the game I think.

Here is a radical suggestion. Meech played both left wing and D for the Red Wings. I wouldn't mind moving him up to 3rd line left wing in place of Antropov. Antro looked really slow and really tired out there today. Let Antro sit for a game and rest his weary bones. Put Postma back in on the third D pairing. We need to generate more scoring opportunities. I think these changes could really help.......at least they are worth a try.

p.s. If Kulda is ready we could put him in instead of Postma. Either way, I can't see how it could hurt to give Meech a try up on wing.

I loved Noel sticking up for the players in his presser. He was bang on when he said

"do you think the players LIKE playing like this? Do you think it's by design? Have you ever played on a team when you're playing like that, it's extremely frustrating!"

I completely related to that. My rec league team had a spell of games midway through the year just like that and as a player, it is infuriating. You can't make a pass, you can't make a coherent play, you aren't getting the bounces. You start getting frustrated and trying harder which ends up causing more problems than ever. It is one of the worst feelings in sport because you don't know how to fix it.

I just hope they come out with energy tomorrow and have a couple of things go well for them. That could make a world of difference and get them back on track. They obviously need to score on Holtby, and do it quickly.

Hopefully they don't get shut out a 3rd time by the Caps tomorrow. :whaaa?:

That game was about as awful to watch as the last Ottawa game. WTF

I was very dissapointed. I don't know why the Jets failed as hard as they did tonight. There were moments where they could have succeeded, but only moments. The caps had control of the puck, Boudreau camped out by the Jets net half the time, Ovechkin got some crazy angles on his shots. I saw it happening before it even happened. It was painful to see. Jets did not dominate the caps. They looked like they were afraid of getting penalties if they played hard. There were two or three solid hits that I saw but the rest wasn't very physical. I hope for a better outing tomorrow. I'm not even mad. My streak of MTS Centre visits where the Jets win is over, it had to happen sometime.

Get two points in regulation tomorrow. Figure it out. It was like watching a hockey game run by committee today.

When did they start having kids skate out with a Jets flag at the beginning of the game? That was nice. Couldn't find the fresh popcorn place. I'm guessing that's gone. A shame.

50/50 was like 40k I think. Alas I didn't win.

Next time I go will be Tampa Bay and the Hurricanes in April in the same week. Hopefully we clinch the Southeast then.

Couldn't this be reversed? Just because this team had a stinker tonight, does that mean they're going into a losing spiral and it's all doom and gloom?

It's the old glass half empty/half full argument. Of course people should be pissed off about a performance like that, but sometimes perspective is needed.

Yes, and we will see tomorrow how the team responds.

I agree and throw Peluso in when he's healthy.
That would be deadly

Worst NHL game I've seen live. Not sure if the ice was awful, or they forgot to freeze the pucks or both, but nobody could handle it on either team. Guys were stumbling and losing their feet, refs barely decided to show up too. Luckily for the Caps they took a quick lead and could drop into a defensive posture, because the puck was just bouncing up down and all around the rink last night.

What a disaster Jokinen is. I hate to pile on the guy but it's painful to watch right now.

Such a shame, I was so excited when I heard he had chosen to sign with us.

He looks so imposing charging with the puck through the neutral zone till the first guy he comes across knocks him off the puck or knocks it away from him. He just can't beat anybody 1 on 1.

in a back to back game, when points are this important, you send out your fourth line and you try to kill somebody
im not saying dirty hockey is something i commend, but washington was going after kane, and why not make them hurt for tomorrows game
we got shutout, so might as well make tomorrows game a bit easier

instead we play our star players? ya a goal wont make a difference that late claude.

i hate to sound like this, but if im coach, i pat thor, tangradi and wright on the shoulder and say, go knock somebody out, fight someone, and throw some nasty hacks.
doesnt matter if we get a penalty, games over

p

Really? "Kill someone" Does the RCMP know who and where you are? Maybe you should take a chill pill before you go off the deep end like this.

I may have the wrong section. This one may be more applicable in your case.

Eric O'Dell?

I'd very much like to see what O'Dell looks like on a line with Kane. The only way that would happen is injuries or if we completely crap the bed the rest of the season. Nevertheless I'm curious.

On another note Burmi might play a little goofy in the offensive end sometimes but Kane looked a lot better playing with him and he looked a lot better playing with Kane.

Also he was a quite turnover prone tonight. Honestly he looks like he is so terrified to make a mistake out there he can't stop making them. He has zero confidence with the puck. I really miss the Burmi from the start of the season.

Im pretty sure he meant it as a figure of speech...and I kind of agree with him. Games already lost, why don't you through out your physical lines and have them lay down some big hits.

At the same time a solid last few minutes that may resulted in a goal could have provided some momentum for tomorrow.

Weren't we calling Carlyle classless for sending out Orr and McLaren during the final minutes of the 5-2 win over Toronto? >_>

Really surprised by the lack of quality scoring chances on the jets' side of things. Against Boston I can understand - they are a shutdown team after all..but Washington!? Oh well, guess that's what happens when the opposing team constantly beats you to the loose pucks. Obviously that's only part of the reason they lost, but i was something I noticed was a reoccurring theme last night.

Joker and Buff I thought both stood out in a bad way. Joker in particular can't seem to do anything right in the offensive zone - turns over the pucks, misses the net.

Oh well. Let's get 'em on there heels tomorrow with a couple quick goals.

Laying down some big hits sometimes backfire. Guys damage shoulders and if you think that laying the hits don't also cause other jarring then you really don't know the game.

They have another game tomorrow so the smart thing is to save their bodies and energy. The game was over. Another goal really would not really impact the game tomorrow.

again, hate to sound like this, but this team wold play just fine without any of the current 4th line players
this team plays well off of physical style of game, as proved in most games we win

Eric O'Dell?

Do you really think that if the Jets call up Eric O'Dell and slot him in Jokinen's spot in the lineup that the Jets become a better team?

The Jets had a bad night. Even teams in playoff positions tend to have those from time to time. I'll be concerned once the Jets have lost a bunch in a row.

I saw Joki as one of our positive forwards out there. His positional game was actually pretty good. Y'all got to keep in mind his role is different in WPG so expectations are a little different. I give the guy credit as a vet playing a different role, good on him.
