He going to get 10M$ some where
Yup if he'd take 8.75m he'd already be re-signed by the Leafs right now. The Leafs will probably need to offer him 10m x 7 or 8 to re-sign him. If he puts up 50 goals and 100+ points and decides to test the market July 1st some team or teams will probably throw some 11m-11.5m x 7 offers his way because there's always that one team.

If it takes an offer of 11m+ x 7 I'd much rather the player were an elite #1 center or an elite top pairing dman instead of a winger, even though Nylander is a damn good player. I do think he'll eventually re-sign with the Leafs before July 1st but he just might be tempted to test UFA just to see what others would offer him.

There aren’t many big name with some prime tthat will be available this year or next spending 11M$ isn’t ideal but offering 8.5M$ is kind of ridiculous… even at 11M$ it will be worth it, improve the top 6 and leave up so many asset to keep improving our lineup

I'd sign Willy for sure. The only "core 4" guy on their team that shows up consistently every playoffs.

He wants to be "the guy" and would be here 100%.
"He wants to be "the guy" and would be here 100%."

That's the only reason he would sign with Montreal in the first place. If you want to be lost in the shuffle, there's always Arizona?

Nylander is a playoff performer, whatever knocks he gets as a perimeter player from Hab fans.

I'd put Nylander with Dach, though, to get the most out of the winger, and keep Caufield with Suzuki to balance things out.

The four can play together on the 1st PP wave.

Slafkovsky - Dach - Nylander
Caufield - Suzuki - Roy

would be my top-6.

Very skilled, and clutch in the playoffs. Yeah he isn't physical, but we have Anderson who's supposed t be and isn't, and I'd take Nylander over Anderson 10 times out of 10.

Of course I'd sign him, Hughes can create space for him.

Did Nylander's 5 goals in a fake playoff series in front of cardboard cutouts against the Habs scramble all your brains?!

I don't see the point in using up so much cap space when the blueline and goaltending still need so much work. I think the Habs are a few years away from this kind of move. Of course you never know when the kids will start to take off or not, so it could happen sooner of course.

I had voted "no". He was clearly playing for a contract and now that he got paid, he'll revert to the player he was. Good but not worth the fat contract.

Lot of big names be UFA in '25. Habs have 20 million coming off the books the summer. Hhhmmmmm?
We should target realisticaly a solid, vet defenseman if we want to make playoff in 2025-2026 and even make a push. Someone like Lindell or Proporov if available. No way guys like Hedman, Ekblad or Slavin don't sign with their respective team.

Don't see that happening.. they will continue to groom their in house young defenseman while Matheson and Savard insulate them.
