People will think I'm nuts, but I can see them moving Kreider this summer. He's having one hell of an outlier year, and if they can convince a GM out there 50 goals is a new normal and not a career season, there's the potential to get one hell of a haul for him.
We’re not moving our longest tenured Ranger who was one of the only ones to survive the rebuild. We drafted and developed him, he’s been through different iterations of this NYR team, and he’s finally paying off. You don’t move guys like him.

You sure do. Completely unrelated to Laf's situation and valuation around the league. Congrats?
You seem to be angry at any possible discussion around Laf.

My original post about offersheeting him, was in fact meaning any GM throughout the league. I wouldn't trade for him if I wanted him. I would go the offersheet route. He is the perfect player to make an offersheet on. Rangers have cap space issues and doubts are creeping into what Laf is worth. An OS similar to KK would be a gamble for whatever GM made it, just like the canes gambled with KK.

And yes...assuming the Habs have top 5 picks, this year and next, I hope they consider OS for Laf in summer 2023. I don't know what lesson you are referring to. Is it "you better not offersheet, or else someone else will do it to you" type lesson? I'm not convinced we have lost the KK saga just yet, so I guess there is more learning we need to do.

No, the Rangers shouldn't trade Alexis Lafreniere. This kid can't even legally order a beer yet. He's got time. He's got a great group of players to mentor him. Let him continue to develop in NY. No need to rush him.

Yeah you have no bias in this situation whatsoever, you sound like Oilers fans saying don't trade Yak because he'll score when he leaves.
Sure thing buddy. Major difference is Laf contributes even when not scoring. Good passer, good on the boards. Needs to improve his skating but is only 20. If Yak wasnt scoring goals he was completely useless.

Not opposed to Laf discussion. Yes you lost the KK offersheet situation.

What exactly does Lafreniere contribute when he isn't scoring?

Kaapo Kakko certainly has great defensive metrics and anyone who watches can see he excels defensively. But Lafreniere? Yeah I dont see it

Hes been... underwhelming this far into his career. And that includes offensively, where he was the only forward in the last two NHL seasons to not score a PP point after 70mins PP time, took him until 130PP minutes to score his 1st PP point.

Watch the games. Considering he gets like 20-30 seconds on PP2 i wouldnt hold lack of PP points against him. His unit is lucky to have enough time to dump the puck in.

I like KK and wish we still had him. Not convinced we lost though. Need more time. Even if we lost....that means Carolina won. We could still win an OS situation. It's like telling the Habs not to trade again because we lost the Drouin/Serg swap. You win some and lose some. Not all OS are a losing situation. No lesson to even be learned.

Your opinion. Trading is a different situation because GMs cant retaliate against you.

You’re getting a top 20 prospect in hockey. Laffy’s stock hasn’t gone up since drafted we can both agree on.
I think both players hold similar value right now.

There is legit risk with Laffy right now.
Ridly Greig and Alexis Lafreniere do not hold similar value right now. Not even close.

Shane Pinto is who I was more alluding to since you mentioned him.

I don’t think their values are too far apart.
Shane Pinto is a very interesting piece that I have a lot of interest in considering he’s a mutual friend and he’s from NY but the answer is still no.

As a Canuck’s fan I was hoping for a straight across Miller for Lafreniere trade before the last TDL. If that’s available in the summer, then the Canucks would be insane not to pounce.
Miller for Lafreniere. No add by the Rags.

I think that's terrible value for the Canucks. Would rather just re-sign Miller to a giant contract.

We've seen flashes of what Laf could be this year when he was playing with Kreider and Zib. His biggest issue right now is his skating. This off-season will be the first "regular" off-season since he's been drafted so I'd expect to see his skating improve by leaps and bounds next season.

The Rangers will be losing 2-3 of their top 6 this off-season with Strome, Copp and Vatrano all free agents and Copp and Vatrano's recent performances likely pricing themselves out of the Rangers budget. There will be room for Laf to move back up into a top 6 role next year on his offwing. He just needs to improve his skating which, given a non-covid off-season regiment, he should have time to do.
