Should goals off skates count? Tristan Jarry doesn’t think so.

There was a time when pucks that deflected off of skates weren't allowed to be goals.
And the rule was changed, thank goodness

Up until '92 you could score a goal by kicking the puck off of the goalie or another skater,. Jarry would stroke out of that was still legal.

WTH is he going on about? While we're at it, let's also disallow any goals that unintentionally deflect off sticks or any body part. Only clean goals allowed.
What he is really going for is "only goals that our team scores - no matter how - should count.

Incredibly terrible take and attitude.

Maybe we should eliminate goals that go off shin pads and other teams sticks. No, Jarry, absolutely not. Get over it.

I think that any goal that goes in off the skate should count, unless the blade is off the ice by more than 2" or so. The "no kicking " rule was born in a time when they had far inferior protection, but it also causes confusion as to what a kick actually is. I get them discouraging a guy from lifting his foot 2-3' in the air to knock a puck in... improved equipment or not, those blades are sharp, and dangerous.

The guy is clearly just mad they lost again and are well under .500 at this stage of the season.
He’s not playing well and not really giving his team a chance to win so obviously he feels responsible.

He’s dissociating himself from the results by putting blame on the circumstances rather than his play.

Tough times will do that to any goalie. Not only pucks are going in and then some unlucky bounces to cap it off.

The guy needs to accept his role in the losses. No one is blaming him for off the skate redirect and in type goals. It’s the other ones that shouldnt go in that create issues.
