Absolute dog shit performance by Army If we dint trade anything. Price is high.
Sellers market and he does nothing. Unacceptable.

He is so desperate to not miss playoffs for a THIRD year in a row (He 100% deserves blame for these sad rosters) that he just gave away future assets we could have gotten just to keep aging vets, many on 1 year contracts with UFA soon, so they can "push" for the last welfare playoff spot so Winnipeg can bitch slap them in 4 or 5 games.

So what do you think he should have done? I don't want any of your bullshit of "trade Kyrou". I want to know who you would have traded him to and for what.

Before this season, the roster was not playoff caliber, most thought rebuild was still in process. But then, Army did the following things........
Masterstroke on the Broberg/Holloway deals
The trade for Fowler
The gutsy move in not hesitating to grab Montgomery

If we make the playoffs, Armstrong should be considered for the Jim Gregory Trophy as General Manager of the Year

The Broberg/Holloway move pays for the sin of not extending Pietrangelo.

From the end of one cup contending window to the beginning of another. Army found a way to make things right.

This was my initial response when I saw the mountain of movement and we made almost none. But then the team started actually playing better, looking better and last night were absolute killers.

Army knows things that we don't. It's clear he wants to leave ample room for his successor to make their own mark on the franchise and his witchboard, while it boggles and is bizzare and crazy, has brought home a Cup and a team that looks amped to rock without Colt and making a case for themselves.

After the TDL and the team's response, I have to reverse my decision and say that Army made the right call here. If we don't or do make the playoffs doesn't matter, what does is, has he left the team at this point and time better than it was and by leaving it alone and the coaches making changes, he has.

So kudos to the Army. And let's see if our Blue army can fk around and make the playoffs.

This is the way.

The best thing he has done in a while was not make a move at the deadline.
I didnt like how we went from so physical when we won to one of the softwst teams see kaspari kaapanen
I hated the Saad and Buchnevich moves immensely and Tory Krug was the one I was most excited about
He was horrible last year
I loved that he didnt upset the chemistry of this team
I watch more than just the Blues and this team is playing more harder than any team lately
Their forecheck has been relentless
No reason this team couldnt go on a run in the playoffs

I thought he tried to trade Schenn, but Brayden invoked his NTC.

Did he invoke his clause or was he just never asked because Armstrong didn't want to trade him?
National reporters were saying a deal with Toronto was agreed to, but Schenn said no.

That’s consistent with how Armstrong has said he handles those situations: don’t approach the player about it until a deal is agreed to.

Leafs fan here -been really impressed by Armstrong. Many GMs are afraid to get creative or think outside the box, but he's not afraid to take big swings. The Holloway/Broberg move is one of the best moves I've seen in years. He completely destroyed the Oilers on that one and basically got you guys a potential top line C and top pairing D of the future and bridged the team to a new contending window. Guy is one of the brightest minds in hockey and it's always impressive to see someone who has been around for so long still be so effective, usually the game passes guys by like Ken Holland or even Stevie Y of late.

If you view DA's work in the totality of everything -- meaning you consider what the expectations of a Blues fan was prior to his arrival, the competitive factors, financial constraints and organizational resource, etc.. then watch the evolution of the team through 2019, then the chapter after, and now the next version of the Blues emerging... how could you see him as anything less than an icon? And he's still not only relevant, but excelling at a time when the sport is at its most competitive point.

Nobody's perfect and he's given out his share of stinker contracts and his deals haven't always panned out, but if you've been a fan of this franchise for any significant length of time and don't see his tenure as the absolute Golden Age, the only explanation I can think of is you've got an axe to grind. I view DA, Whitey, and Coryell (and maybe Ron Caron because he was such a total character and daily adventure) as the pantheon of STL sports minds. But if you ask me which one stood tallest, I'd say DA because he not only made/makes smart moves and won, but he's built a sustainably successful and resilient organization.

isn't it amazing that while other fans talk about how great Armstrong is we have a thread dedicated to "fire Armstrong"?
