I feel like the people who don't want him back are the same people who didn't want Claude gone. It's okay to admit that you were wrong.

I wanted Claude gone but I didn't want Cassidy as the replacement. I was wrong about that.

Who would be dark horse candidates? Jim Montgomery? Other from college or jr ranks?

Cassidy should be short list but due diligence warranted.

Do feel like they'll stick w him

I think he already knows he has the job

We just don't

I think there were quite a few posters here that didn't really want Clode gone, but when the B's made the playoffs under Cassidy, a lot of the CJ supporters took a liking to Cassidy.

I would say yes on a short deal (no more than 2 years).

I have no problem with them doing due dilligence in considering other options. I'm sure there was a person or two in mind when they fired Clode.

But I do think he made a strong case for himself and achieved a realistic goal of making the playoffs and had a hard fought, close series.

I am in the boat that didn't want Claude gone but have and will admit it was obviously for the better of the 2016/17 boston bruins . I was wrong .

I don't how Cassidy will do long term but I think he did more than enough to get the opportunity . I also developed a liking for him in general in this short time . Give him the Keys please.

This is a hugely important next move, yes Butch had great success this season, grateful and quite shocked he got out of this team which I didn`t think they had in them however, tons of youth coming soon and while I appreciate he was the coach in Providence for years and undoubtedly worked with plenty of kids, that doesn`t mean he`s the obvious choice.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Cassidy either, but was so happy to see Clode relieved of his duties, that I would've been happy with almost anybody else at the time.

Nothing personal against Clode, but I was just soooo tired of his boring system and his demeanor the last couple of years, that I was starting to lose interest in the Bruins.

...but thanks to the coaching change, my enthusiasm has been restored.

He has earned the shot at the Head Coach job imo.

He turned around this team and turned us from a wobbling duck about to fall off a cliff and brought us into playoff team.

Yes 1st round loss was disappointing, but I see upside in this team. When before all I saw was failure, excuses, and players tuning out the head coach.

We have hope at a brighter future with Cassidy. Let's give him the chance to prove what he can do in a full season at the helm now.

Felt he was going to get the job. Didn't think they would let the name value of Bylsma or Sutter sucker them in.

He righted the team to most people's expectations. Barely make playoffs and first round exit. If you looked at polls beginning of the year the vast majority was right about this team. They just performed way worst under Julien. Could it be just the new coach affect on players realizing they aren't safe? It will be interesting to see what players will be like next year. Took a kick in the pants to get them going. Can Cassidy sustain that? Biggest question going into next season.

Definitely deserves the job..kudos to him.

To be clear, I voted that I don't know.

I'm not against Cassidy as our coach but I feel like I need to counter the cornucopia of fans laying rose petals at his feet.

He inherited one of the most defensively structured teams in the league and told them to loosen it up a bit, drive the net, make plays low. That worked wonders, at first. However, all teams watch film.

Hope they looked at it deeply and made their decision based on data and evidence. Even a mediocre coach can go far with great players, so making sure they have that is the most important priority for Sweeney now.
