Thoresen to DIF. :wally:
I think this will be his last season. He did think about retiring after winning the EHL and the play off in Norway last season.

Taking Djurgården back to SHL is a good challenge for him. He needed a real challenge to continue as hockey player. There are no big clubs like HV71, MoDO and Brynäs in HockeyAllsvenskan this year, so a good chance for Djurgården to up this year.

Good morning all!
Or should I say "God Morgan"
Just reading about Fajestad a little more, trying to grasp as much as I can about the SHL, and am I correct in assuming that Fajestad isn't actually the place, as that is Karlstad?
So what does the word Fajestad mean?

You are correct. Färjestad is an area in Karlstad where the team was formed. So pretty much the same thing as for example with Djurgården in Stockholm.

Frölunda - Färjestad in Gothenburg? Should be a great atmosphere.

I think you might be out way too early to purchase tickets for a game in March, but I also seem to have trouble atm accessing the ticketmaster site where they should be released. Ticketmaster.se should be the platform, and I think you can get event information in English there.

I had issues accessing the site from my phone this morning, but when I checked it from my computer in the afternoon the site worked fine but I surmised that Frölunda had only released season tickets for purchase for the time being, and that match tickets will likely be released closer to the mid-September season start. I don’t know how far ahead of schedule they start selling them, however, @Aahlstroem might know more about how things work in Gothenburg?

The game you are going to see is one of the best regional rivalries in the league and is likely going to be a pretty big, sold out event: but you won’t have to cancel all plans to sit on hold on the day they’re released.

I’ll probably come by this thread once in a while as where closing in on hockey season. I’ll try to remember to check if tickets are released.

Frölunda and GotEvent (municipal event company that owns Scandinavium) are fighting about rent, which they've done every summer for the last couple years. GotEvent have a monopoly and can pretty much dictate whichever price they want and the terms, and the municipality would never allow Frölunda, or any other private builder, to build an arena by them self since they make a lot more money off of them playing in Scandinavium, or a future municipal event arena which been discussed the last 20 years. Frölunda are frustrated and are playing a bit dirty criticizing GotEvent and the municipality in the media every chance they get, GotEvent is playing even dirtier and are not allowing Frölunda to sell tickets since they won't sign their contract proposal.

I am honestly surprised after all these years that Frölunda are not playing in a brand new, privately funded arena across the municipal border in Mölndal by this point.

Frölunda have announced that tickets will be available for purchase Thursday this week. @johnnydrum

Victor Söderström to Brynäs
Really happy as a Brynäs fan. Sure, they needed a defensive D, but Söderström is on a completely different level to anything they'd otherwise get at this stage. Moreover, they're really going to need him now that both Djoos and d'Astous, their intended first D pair, are injured and probably going to miss a significant part of the regular season.

Luleå first, Skellefteå second, Timrå third and Färjestad fourth in the table now after nine rounds played are doing well now.

Today's game on TV4 Hockey was a team that played better than Luleå the away team Brynäs.

Was a game where Brynäs dominated the shots 25-8 to Brynäs in shots.

Brynäs won by zero weak Luleå.

0-1 by Johan Larsson.
0-2 by Theo Lindstein.
0-3 by Victor Söderström.

Most pale performance I saw by Luleå in a long time, but Brynäs also played a great game. Silfverberg and Victor Söderström are really good. Really interesting season.

My HA to SHL:

Björklöven
AIK
Tingsryd
Karlskoga
Nybro

Only one by five teams expect new team into high serie SHL.

Should the SHL league increase from 14 squads to 16, 17, 18 squads in the near future.

As NHL shut SHL? 16, 17 or 18 teams in SHL who's disagree? The bottom team might be eliminated without the qualifying series and a new team goes up?

So better?

Trying to understand this part. Are those five teams your favorites to advance to the SHL?

Should the SHL league increase from 14 squads to 16, 17, 18 squads in the near future.

On the one hand, I think expanding to 16 teams is very likely in the near future. No Stockholm based team in the SHL for a prolonged period of time is considered a big loss for the SHL.

However, for the overall quality of the SHL, the current 14 team format seems perfect for me. It’s super competitive from top to bottom, the mid-season lulls (‘lunk’) are seriously curtailed compared to — say — the league of ten years ago, and there are intense placement battles for making the top-6, the top-10, and avoiding relegation playoffs. That’s my opinion.

I’ve played around with the thought of expanding the league by two teams and haven’t found a format I find too appetizing.

I’ve been looking at how to avoid extra regular season games but expanding the playoffs into a full four-round format (like the NHL), but that would need 16 playoff teams, and I don’t think there’s enough quality in the HA to make that work (basically, the SHL would have to consist of 18-20 teams, or something stupid like closing the league and have everyone make the playoffs, which I’m vehemently opposed to).

I think the most likely expansion would be a 16 team league, where we’ll either have more teams finishing in no-man’s land, or some new gimmick to the playoff format(s). I think the inevitable result at any rate will be a drop in quality in terms of competition and entertainment, by how much is hard to say but we’ll probably see an increase in meaningless placement games, in my opinion.

As NHL shut SHL? 16, 17 or 18 teams in SHL who's disagree? The bottom team might be eliminated without the qualifying series and a new team goes up?

Close the SHL from promotion/relegation. Absolutely not.

As to immediate relegation of the bottom team:

I’ve seen many fans claim it’s “unfair” the bottom team receives a shot at remaining in the league having sucked it up for 50 rounds, but my counter to that would be that playoffs are ingrained in the DNA of hockey and we haven’t been rewarding championships to the top regular season teams for 50 years. Hockey players and fans should know that no matter how the regular season played out, there’s a “real” battle coming up and you best be prepared. My team, Luleå, set a new record for points in the regular season prior to the pandemic which cancelled the playoffs. No serious Luleå fan thought we should be “rewarded” the championship without winning a playoff final. That’s completely fair. We are into our 29th season without a championship and we can wait forever until we do it the way it’s meant to be done.

Would I be opposed to the possibility of having two teams relegated or promoted? No, I liked the old Kvalserien where there were two SHL spots up for grabs. I’m not actually sure, but I don’t think there was ever a case where both SHL teams were relegated? I also don’t think, but am less sure, there was ever a case when both SHL teams kept their spots in the league. It was a fun format.

Certainly five teams I want advance to the SHL next season only one team advance.

The bottom two teams qualify for the SHL is the right system in the Swedish top league and HA qualifies several teams only two teams will compete in the SHL qualifiers in end only one team from HA replaces a team in the league SHL is probably this it will look.
