Speculation: Shipachyov, Dadonov to the NHL

There were rumours of Shipachyov earlier this year, and I think it's fair to say it'll happen. Dadonov is in the same boat. With the success Panarin has had and Radulov's come back, is it fair to say they will follow ship?

I know this thread has been done before, but from this tweet it seems that it is certain these players are looking at all their options

Where do these players go? How much do they sign for?

I think it's between Chicago and Montreal. They'll go low-cost for Chicago, high-cost for Montreal. In the end, I see Chicago getting Shipachyov at the very least.

I thought the Canes rights to him expired this past July? Not that it matters.

In addition to the agreement with SKA, if they were able to come over now, wouldn't that mean they'd have to go through waivers (they whole ROR offer-sheet issue) after being signed and before being allowed to play?

Rule 13.23 of the CBA:

In the event a professional or former professional Player plays in a league outside North America after the start of the NHL Regular Season, other than on Loan from his Club, he may thereafter play in the NHL during that Playing Season (including Playoffs) only if he has first either cleared or been obtained via Waivers.

They would be joining the NHL team before 2017-2018 season, therefore do not have to go through waivers for that season. It's not for this year, they will play out this year in the K

Montreal still has to resign Chucky, Radulov, Beaulieu and perhaps Markov (been great this year) and keep money for Price next year. Maybe if they can unload a contract they could make room.

Move Plekanec + let Desharnais walk. Also, Markov will cost less, and I'm not sure what will happen with Beaulieu, but I could see him traded away.

We can expose Plekanec and let DD walk. I think given the cap requirements and other available centres, Plek would be a good grab for Vegas.

MTL needs Shipachev if Galchenyuk is out for as long as some are speculating.

hopefully markov takes a 1 year deal at a decent price, Galchenyuk's injury might play a role in his next contract... we'll see how he finish the season, anything under 6.5M long term will be more than happy. anything under 7M for radulov 4years ish would be perfect (if he takes a discount it will be even better) hopefully desharnais isnt resigning... and lets unprotect plekanec for vegas, and sign shipachev in the offseason, unless we makes a big trade for a guy like duchene, wich would be amazing.

I see it this way. Markov goes cheap (3m), Beaulieu resigns cheap, Desharnais' 3.5m goes to Chucky so he gets 6.3m (maybe more towards 7).

Plek can probably be moved as long as we get Ship. If Vegas takes Emelin or Plek for their cap it can work for sure

He won't be coming to the NHL this year according the the tweet (plays out his final year), and he'd have to go through waivers first anyway. So yeah, next year is when he'd come

Yeah, what I meant was that in the event they DIDN'T have the agreement with SKA to wait til next season, they'd pretty much have to anyhow because of that rule (ie..if they came over this year, they'd have to go through waivers)

main problem, is why would a guy take less money, if his icetime and pts + effectiveness doesnt go down? the only thing that could go down is based on his age aka the term... i realy dont see anyway marky taking a lesser salary if his number and icetime keeps going like this, hes having impressive numbers. beaulieu will definitly go cheap.

Markov is great, his issue has always been how well he's played April-May. We can wait to decide, and I think he'll go the Brian Campbell route and take a cheap contract to play here (edit: prob not that cheap but yeah)

I think Markov will want 5m. He'll probably get around 4.5m. As for Beaulieu, who knows?

i dont know tbh... he just got a kid i realy dpubt he'll settle, IMO he's either taking 1 year @ 5.5-6M or 2 years at 4.5-5M

Anyway, I don't know that Shipachyov or Dadonov will demand that huge of a contact at first. More like Panarin where he takes a 1-2 year trial and then signs

Oh misunderstood.

If he cant come this year, and MTL thinks they can sign him, Hanzal would be a perfect grab for now.

One of these guys ends up in Montreal in the summer, IMO. Probably Shipachev to fill the 2C hole.

Desharnais will (should be gone) and I'd move Plekanec if we could sign Hanzal for less than what Plekanec makes now ($6m).

So I don't quite understand:

Contractually they can leave for the NHL?
But have an agreement not to?

Panarin was required to sign an ELC; he got his base salary and bonuses. Neither Shipachyov or Dadonov will be required/eligible to sign an ELC.

There is a good chance that they'll both be looking for 1 year deals, but I wouldn't expect the one year deal to be particularly cheap.
