Speculation: Shesterkin on contract: I love the team, I love the fans so of course it will be great to stay here. But you never know what’s going to happen

Cap will be $97-$98 mill in two years, over $100 million in three.

Given the cap was 82.5 million roughly this season that just concluded, that's almost $20 million in additional cap space being added to the payroll in a very short period of time ... if you're not using it to pay your best players, exactly what is the plan.

$10+ million for a goalie is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be, they've become used to COVID-era economics and don't fully understand how much cap space is being added in the next few years especially.

Rangers are a bubble team without Shesty. Going to have to pay the man to stay relevant.
That's nonsense. You could make the argument that the team was just as good with Quick in net.
I think he's a top 1-3 goalie for the next 4-5 years, but I wouldn't over pay him to the point it hamstrings the team.

I bet rangers are willing to pay up to 11.5 and shesty wants more than that. I bet they settle close to 12m per.

No exact formula to winning the cup but getting rid of elite players to have more cap space definitely aint it.

Not unless you can replace them effectively, no

Guess you missed Quick going 18-6-2 last year 🫢
Rangers would barely make the playoffs, if even that, if they tried to replace the best goaltender in the league with cap space to spend on the next dumb-dumb Trouba and Goodrow and a barely NHL starter level goaltender.

That's nonsense. You could make the argument that the team was just as good with Quick in net.
Quick had worse stats in a smaller sample and with easier starts. No, you cannot.

You sound ungrateful towards the stars on your team and just want them to take the lowest possible number when they have every right to ask for more. How about being mad at Trouba’s wife for holding the team hostage instead with 8.5M on our third pair?

Where did Rangers get paying Lundqvist so much money? You’d think that they’d learn to reserve the big bucks to skaters and not goalies.

Didn't they get to a Cup Final? Which percentage of teams have been in even a Cup Final the last 15 years?

Did they lose due to bad goaltending or offense drying up? Teams get by with the likes of Binnington and Hill as long as their team has talent. Lundqvist and Price were paid fat stacks and their teams never got anywhere. Rangers just ONCE.

Well technically this is not even true. Being in the Cup Final (which both Lundqvist and Price were in) is literally playing for a Stanley Cup.

Be real here. Those teams don't get that far without him. So maybe they use the cash elsewhere and it clicks, or maybe it doesnt.. until the last couple of seasons, Lundqvist wasn't the one handicapped the team because of his cap.
