Very well deserved. IMO, he was robbed of two Norris trophies but nevertheless, everyone knows how great he was and here’s the proof. Congrats

I am just shocked how Habs fan can say something like that..

Markov: 572 pts in 990 games
Weber: 589 in 1038 games

Weber was more physical but there is more to hockey than simply physicality. Markov blow Weber out of the water in a lot of things and most importantly, he makes people around him better.

Don't want people to misunderstanding, Weber deserves to be in. But so does Markov.
Shea produced more offence and was much better defensively. It’s pretty cut and dry for me as to who was the better all around player

Favorite hab since subban, and I liked him even more than PK. Such a toxic beast I loved watching him play. He could get away with murder, the refs respected him way too much.

Him and Ben chariot were a treat to watch in 2021. Crosschecks for days

He was great for Nashville and inconsistent/injured/over-the-hill for Montréal.

I prefer not to dwell on him or that entire bittersweet “era” where the Habs got worse and better at the same time, often in the same season. Other than the Finals run his best moments came in Yellow not Bleu Blanc Rouge.

(I feel similarly disenchanted with Brian Gionta, for instance)

With that said, hockey players absolutely loved Weber and respected the hell out of him. Shame we didn’t have him for his prime.

Webs? Sure, loved him as a hab, they have lowered the requirements it appears. Is Doug Wilson in yet?

Congratulations again to Weber. He should have won in 2011 but they gave it to Lidstrom. If Weber was in a more traditional market he would have won. He was a beast in the early 2010's.

It’s the “hockey” hall of fame - juniors (Kelowna) counts, Team Canada (top pairing WJC & multiple Olympics) count, NHL counts (performance - Norris voting & longevity of career) …

It’s not even close in terms of “hockey” achievement…

So, in a thread where a Habs captain gets into the HOF, we discuss how another player didn’t get in?

He did absolutely nothing for us... was a good teammate to Price... i guess that is worth a medal of honour for some people around here.

We absolutely overpaid for him because our GM was just bad and wanted Subban out asap. The trade happened in 2016 and we got to the sc finals in 2021... it was just a horrible trade all around

congratulations to Weber! A proud day for him. He was incredible in Nashville, team canada, and a few years in Montreal. He was one of the best ever in his own end.

That’s just disingenuous. I think you can acknowledge his role in the cup run at the very least. Whatever we may think of MB has nothing to do with accomplishments. As far as I know, he wore the crest and the C on a cup finalist.

I know that some didn’t enjoy the run at all if it meant that MB got any sort of « win » but to the players, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that they kept winning in the playoffs and battling out there for each other. It’s all we could ask as fans.

5x top five in Norris
4 additional finishes in top ten.
220+ goals

No brainer first ballot player.

I know you love Subban, im not saying you dont but you're making a case for Subbanator to be in the HOF

Actually won the Norris...
Was nominated a few times
Finished top in points
And was so much better in the playoffs like years away

Playoffs:
Subban: 96 GP, 18 G, 44 A, 62 P
Weber: 97 GP, 18 G, 24 A, 42 P

I know he din't play as much but they're now that far off in pts and in total GP... the difference is that he actually won the Norris and had better playoffs success and also another criteria they take into consideration his impact into the community was undeniably MUCH larger

sorry not tyring to go on a tangent but i felt compelled to bring this point up

Its putting the bar low for an organisation like the habs

we've gone to the finals plenty of times and, im not disingenuous but within our history, what ever Weber did goes at the very bottom of the list of all the great achievements of this club

This is a fact

And even if he wore the C... means very little to me... Pacioretty wore the C...so what

First ballot Hall of Famer. As we saw, he was a great one.
How is he eligible? Is he not still under contract?

5x top five in Norris
4 additional finishes in top ten.
220+ goals

No brainer first ballot player.
So is Subban first ballot then? He won a Norris, was top five four times in many less years.

But Markov, on his last game with the Habs, in the plane after that PO lost vs the Rags, he was playing backgammon with Emelin and Radulov and they were having fun. That, that only is enough for not having the HOF. Btw, if Markov was so good at his age, other teams would have called him. It didn't happened.

Yeah it’s not even a debate of him getting into the HHOF.

If anything is silly it’s Roenick over Mogilny. No excuse for that.
