Prospect Info: Sharks Prospect Info & Discussion thread XXI: "New, improved, and wayyyy to much info" Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
He doesn't even turn 19 until this summer.
In the last couple of months his play has really picked up. He had a couple of weeks of getting more PP time when Ryan Lin was out (as bad as it seems to be pushed down the lineup by a 16-year-old, Lin is projected to maybe be a top 10 pick in the 2026 draft. Smallish, but a strong skater with good offensive instincts) but even setting aside that he won't always get focus on the power play he's just looked a lot more comfortable.

He had no points and was even tonight in a 3-1 win against Prince George. This was theoretically a playoff preview if the standings don't change.

After last nights points-bonanza, the stats of our big4 in the OHL look a little something like this…

I’m trying to decipher how this table was sorted, and the best I could come up with is random AF. One would have thought with just four rows, even accidentally, it might have ended up sorted by something. Nope. Just chaos from start to end.

Let this be a lesson to all of you. Never put effort into doing something for other people. Give up and embrace nihilism.

A decade ago, these numbers would mean Dickinson was projecting as a future Norris candidate, Chernyshov as a future star player, and Musty as a solid first-liner. We have to recalibrate, since the CHL generally has taken a step back in quality. Still, it is excellent news.

Chernyshov zooming by Halttunen is kind sad. Haven’t been watching those games so maybe Halttunen is focusing more on pro game details than standing in the faceoff circle shooting one timers. Just thought he would go off on goals this year but nahhh. Chernyshov a dude or is Misa carrying?

Chernyshov is a dude. He was in the KHL in his D+0 as a 17yo and was talked about as a mid-1st-round-pick before inexplicably falling to us.

I'm not at all surprised to see him zooming past Haltts -- in my mind he was always a better prospect. Halttunen always had/has an uphill battle to the NHL just because of his skating and all around game - the only reason he has any kind of chance is his shot.

I'm pretty sure it was the combo of teams aware of his shoulder injury and him not participating in the prospect showcase due to his "sunburn." I think that scared teams off on how bad his shoulder really was.
If I'm not mistaken didn't he hurt his shoulder after being drafted, pretty sure he played in the dev camp scrimmage.

paywall, tl;dr scouts and execs are mixed on him between "Jack McBain type tough playoff 3C" and "no more than a defensively minded 4th liner". All agree no top 6 upside, nobody said he wouldn't be a NHL player.

Needs to hit near his ceiling for this to be anything other than a fail or nothing trade, imho, and what many have already said.
