On Saturday Eklund will play against Luleå. Luleå is one of the best defensive teams of the SHL and they have Wallstedt on goal (if he is starting) so it should be interesting what Eklund can do against them. I bought a ticket to that game too! After that game though I think I have to consider if I'm going to buy more tickets or not as these damn tickets are going to be very expensive for a student :D

Really liked his game tonight. While he had those times where he just seemed disengaged unless the puck was moving up the ice, he also had moments where he was using his body effectively to shake off pursuers a lot more this game. That's something that with his size and skating he needs to get more used to doing to become a true power forward. Right now he plays like Kevin Labanc in a Weatherby body which is just so frustrating.

Anyways, his playmaking continues to impress me. He chains together some pass plays in the offensive zone that are just *chef's kiss* pretty. Here's a few examples:

He hit two players from off the boards and right on their sticks. The second one was between two defenders and even the player catching it looked surprised it made it to him.

A backhand sauce pass over two defenders landing on the stick of his streaking teammate? Hot damn that's pretty. Don't know about possible in the NHL, but still that's some vision.

And those are just a few of the ones I noticed, and not even his scoring plays from the game, all three of his points were just really smart and/or impressive plays.

They were playing just about the worst team in the league (especially because no Gushchin this game) though, so it's a little unfair. It was ugly the entire night.

Anyways, right now all I worry about Coe is pace of play, unwillingness to go to the dirty areas, and reluctance to play any other style than what he does right now. But overall games like this make me excited for him.

So many Sharks prospects playing tonight

Coe, Gushchin, Kashnikov, Gilmartin, McCue, Bordeleau maybe Gaudreau for the early games

Robins, Wiesblatt for the mid game

Laroque as the closer

Can’t decide who to watch

Gushchin with 2 assists and a shootout winner that was very pretty. I really wonder what his game is going to look like when he plays on a line that can match his skill level. Right now he's doing all sorts of coast-to-coast rushes and puck-hoggy plays simply because he can and no one else will on his team. I worry about that at the next level though under certain coaches. He also has been suspended twice, once for a questionable head hit, one for firing the puck out of play after a loss in OT. Had a questionable knee on knee this game as well. What I'm trying to say is, I think he's gotten really used to being the one man show for his team, and I wonder what he's going to do to adjust to that at the next level, and clean up some of his selfish plays as well. Hopefully skill wins out in the end.

I didn't watch Gaudreau cause he laid an egg last game, and of course he pitches a 45 save shutout.

Did watch quite a bit of Bordeleau. He was kind of just there. Won a few key faceoffs that led to 2 PP goals for Michigan. Didn't seem very dangerous though. He has a tendency to play very small, and keep things right in front of him if that makes sense. Like he's perfectly content with catching a pass, stickhandling in place, then shoveling the puck along. He makes some nice passes, but wasn't much of a shooting threat this game.

Tried to watch Laroque but it turned into another Royals fest and they were down by 5 with like half the game to go.

Today I have excellent seat! I'm on same row and within 10 meters where tv-camera is.

Seems that unfortunately Wallstedt is not starting for Luleå. That supermodel goalie who signed with Sharks some years ago is starting for Djurgårdens though:D

Haha, nope. I'm on the opposite side of the rink. I wonder if broken plexiglass is a thing in Sweden :D

Eklund with zero points but Djurgårdens leads 2-0. He had nice pass to Lekkerimäki who hit a post so could've have assist. Also he did some nice smart short passes on o-zone during powerplay but also had one failed pass attempt. On dot I think he had 3 wins and 3 losses or something like that.

Ah so close. He can’t buy a goal. Bats the puck out of the air in front of the net and it bounces off the goalie’s head I think. Then like 3 followup chances can’t go in during the scramble
